Rapporté par Shaqiq : J’étais assis avec ‘Abdullah et Abu Musa, et Abu Musa a dit : "N’as-tu pas entendu ce qu’‘Ammar a dit à ‘Umar : 'Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) m’a envoyé en mission et je suis devenu en état de Janabah, et je n’ai pas trouvé d’eau, alors je me suis roulé dans la terre puis je suis allé voir le Prophète (ﷺ) et je lui ai raconté cela.' Il a dit : 'Cela t’aurait suffi de faire ainsi,' et il a frappé la terre avec ses mains, puis s’est essuyé les mains, puis les a frappées l’une contre l’autre pour enlever la poussière, puis il a essuyé sa main droite avec la gauche et la gauche avec la droite, paume contre paume, et il s’est essuyé le visage." Puis ‘Abdullah a dit : "N’as-tu pas vu que ‘Umar n’était pas convaincu par ce qu’‘Ammar a dit ?

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَبِي مُوسَى فَقَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى أَوَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ قَوْلَ عَمَّارٍ لِعُمَرَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي حَاجَةٍ فَأَجْنَبْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدِ الْمَاءَ فَتَمَرَّغْتُ بِالصَّعِيدِ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ " إِنَّمَا كَانَ يَكْفِيكَ أَنْ تَقُولَ هَكَذَا " . وَضَرَبَ بِيَدَيْهِ عَلَى الأَرْضِ ضَرْبَةً فَمَسَحَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ نَفَضَهُمَا ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ بِشِمَالِهِ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ وَبِيَمِينِهِ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ عَلَى كَفَّيْهِ وَوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَوَلَمْ تَرَ عُمَرَ لَمْ يَقْنَعْ بِقَوْلِ عَمَّارٍ .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Shaqiq said:"I was siting with 'Abdullah and Abu Musa, and Abu Musa said: 'Have you not heard what 'Ammar said to 'Umar: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me on an errand and I became Junub, and I could not find water, so I rolled in the earth then I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him about.' He said: 'It would have been sufficient for you to do this,' and he struck the earth with his hands, then wiped his hands, then knocked them together to remove the dust, then he wiped his right hand with his left and his left hand with his right, palm to palm, and wiped his face.'" Then 'Abdullah said: "Did you not see that 'Umar was not convinced by what 'Ammar said?

ابووائل شقیق بن سلمہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں عبداللہ بن مسعود اور ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہم کے ساتھ بیٹھا ہوا تھا، تو ابوموسیٰ نے کہا: ۱؎ آپ نے عمار رضی اللہ عنہ کی بات جو انہوں نے عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہی نہیں سنی کہ مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کسی ضرورت سے بھیجا، تو میں جنبی ہو گیا، اور مجھے پانی نہیں ملا، تو میں نے مٹی میں لوٹ پوٹ لیا، پھر میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، تو آپ سے اس کا ذکر کیا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تمہارے لیے بس اس طرح کر لینا ہی کافی تھا ، اور آپ نے اپنا دونوں ہاتھ زمین پر ایک بار مارا، اور اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں کا مسح کیا، پھر انہیں جھاڑا، پھر آپ نے اپنی بائیں ( ہتھیلی ) سے اپنی داہنی ( ہتھیلی ) پر اور داہنی ہتھیلی سے اپنی بائیں ( ہتھیلی ) پر مارا، اور اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں اور اپنے چہرے کا مسح کیا، عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: کیا آپ نے دیکھا نہیں کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ عمار رضی اللہ عنہ کی بات سے مطمئن نہیں ہوئے؟۔
