Rapporté par Abu Hurairah : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) nous a dirigés dans l’une des prières de l’après-midi, et il a prié deux Rak‘a, puis il a dit le Salam. Ensuite, il s’est levé et s’est appuyé contre un morceau de bois dans la mosquée. Ceux qui étaient pressés sont sortis, pensant que la prière avait été raccourcie. Parmi les gens, il y avait Abu Bakr et ‘Umar, mais ils n’ont rien osé dire. Il y avait aussi un homme aux longs bras appelé Dhul-Yadain. Il a dit : “Ô Messager d’Allah, la prière a-t-elle été raccourcie ou as-tu oublié ?” Il a répondu : “Elle n’a pas été raccourcie et je n’ai pas oublié.” Il a dit : “Mais tu as prié deux Rak‘a.” Il a demandé : “Est-ce que ce que dit Dhul-Yadain est vrai ?” Ils ont répondu : “Oui.” Alors il s’est avancé, a fait deux Rak‘a, a dit le Salam, puis il a fait deux prosternations, et il a dit le Salam à nouveau

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ إِحْدَى صَلاَتَىِ الْعَشِيِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى خَشَبَةٍ كَانَتْ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَسْتَنِدُ إِلَيْهَا فَخَرَجَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ يَقُولُونَ قَصُرَتِ الصَّلاَةُ . وَفِي الْقَوْمِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَهَابَاهُ أَنْ يَقُولاَ لَهُ شَيْئًا وَفِي الْقَوْمِ رَجُلٌ طَوِيلُ الْيَدَيْنِ يُسَمَّى ذَا الْيَدَيْنِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقَصُرَتِ الصَّلاَةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ فَقَالَ " لَمْ تَقْصُرْ وَلَمْ أَنْسَ " . قَالَ فَإِنَّمَا صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ . فَقَالَ " أَكَمَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟ " . قَالُوا نَعَمْ . قَالَ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in one of the afternoon prayers, and he prayed two Rak’ah, then he said the Salam. Then he stood up and went to a piece of wood in the mosque, and leaned against it. Those who were in a hurry left the mosque, saying that the prayer had been shortened. Among the people were Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, but they dared not say anything. Among the people there was also a man with long hands who was called Dhul- Yadain. He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or did you forget?’ He said: ‘It has not been shortened and I did not forget.’ He said: ‘But you prayed two Rak’ah.’ He said: ‘Is what Dhul- Yadain says true?’ They said: ‘Yes.’ So he went forward and performed two Rak’ah and said the Salam, then he prostrated twice, and then he said the Salam again.”
Traduction en ourdou
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں عشاء ( یعنی زوال کے بعد کی دو نمازوں ظہر یا عصر ) میں سے کوئی نماز دو ہی رکعت پڑھائی، پھر سلام پھیر دیا، پھر مسجد میں پڑی ہوئی ایک لکڑی پر ٹیک لگا کر کھڑے ہو گئے، جلد باز لوگ تو یہ کہتے ہوئے نکل گئے کہ نماز کم ہو گئی، مقتدیوں میں ابوبکرو عمر رضی اللہ عنہما بھی تھے، لیکن وہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کچھ کہنے کی ہمت نہ کر سکے، لوگوں میں ذوالیدین نامی ایک لمبے ہاتھوں والے آدمی نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز کم ہو گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہ تو وہ کم ہوئی، نہ میں بھولا ہوں تو انہوں نے کہا: آپ نے دو ہی رکعت پڑھی ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا: کیا ایسا ہی ہے جیسا کہ ذوالیدین کہہ رہے ہیں؟ ، تو لوگوں نے کہا: جی ہاں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے، اور دو رکعت پڑھائی، پھر سلام پھیرا، پھر دو سجدے کئے، پھر سلام پھیرا ۱؎۔
