Rapporté par Habib ibn Maslamah al-Fihri رضي الله عنه : Makhul a dit : J’étais l’esclave d’une femme des Banu Hudhayl ; ensuite, elle m’a affranchi. Je n’ai pas quitté l’Égypte avant d’avoir acquis tout le savoir qui me semblait y exister. Puis je suis allé au Hijaz et je n’en suis pas parti avant d’avoir acquis tout le savoir disponible. Ensuite, je suis allé en Irak, et je n’en suis pas parti avant d’avoir acquis tout le savoir possible. Je suis ensuite venu en Syrie, et j’ai participé à son siège. J’ai interrogé tout le monde sur la distribution de récompenses à partir du butin. Je n’ai trouvé personne qui puisse m’en parler. J’ai alors rencontré un vieil homme appelé Ziyad ibn Jariyah at-Tamimi. Je lui ai demandé : « As-tu entendu quelque chose au sujet de la distribution de récompenses à partir du butin ? » Il a répondu : « Oui. J’ai entendu Maslamah al-Fihri dire : J’étais présent avec le Prophète ﷺ. Il donnait un quart du butin à l’aller et un tiers au retour. »

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَشِيرِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيَّانِ، - الْمَعْنَى - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَهْبٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ مَكْحُولاً، يَقُولُ كُنْتُ عَبْدًا بِمِصْرَ لاِمْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي هُذَيْلٍ فَأَعْتَقَتْنِي فَمَا خَرَجْتُ مِنْ مِصْرَ وَبِهَا عِلْمٌ إِلاَّ حَوَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا أُرَى ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ الْحِجَازَ فَمَا خَرَجْتُ مِنْهَا وَبِهَا عِلْمٌ إِلاَّ حَوَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا أُرَى ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ الْعِرَاقَ فَمَا خَرَجْتُ مِنْهَا وَبِهَا عِلْمٌ إِلاَّ حَوَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ فِيمَا أُرَى ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ الشَّامَ فَغَرْبَلْتُهَا كُلُّ ذَلِكَ أَسْأَلُ عَنِ النَّفْلِ فَلَمْ أَجِدْ أَحَدًا يُخْبِرُنِي فِيهِ بِشَىْءٍ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ شَيْخًا يُقَالُ لَهُ زِيَادُ بْنُ جَارِيَةَ التَّمِيمِيُّ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ فِي النَّفْلِ شَيْئًا قَالَ نَعَمْ سَمِعْتُ حَبِيبَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ الْفِهْرِيَّ يَقُولُ شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَفَّلَ الرُّبُعَ فِي الْبَدْأَةِ وَالثُّلُثَ فِي الرَّجْعَةِ .
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Habib ibn Maslamah al-Fihri: Makhul said: I was the slave of a woman of Banu Hudhayl; afterwards she emancipated me. I did not leave Egypt until I had acquired all the knowledge that seemed to me to exist there. I then came to al-Hijaz and I did not leave it until I had acquired all the knowledge that seemed to be available. Then I came to al-Iraq, and I did not leave it until I had acquired all the knowledge that seemed to be available. I then came to Syria, and besieged it. I asked everyone about giving rewards from the booty. I did not find anyone who could tell me anything about it. I then met an old man called Ziyad ibn Jariyah at-Tamimi. I asked him: Have you heard anything about giving rewards from the booty? He replied: Yes. I heard Maslamah al-Fihri say: I was present with the Prophet (ﷺ). He gave a quarter of the spoils on the outward journey and a third on the return journey

مکحول کہتے ہیں میں مصر میں قبیلہ بنو ہذیل کی ایک عورت کا غلام تھا، اس نے مجھے آزاد کر دیا، تو میں مصر سے اس وقت تک نہیں نکلا جب تک کہ اپنے خیال کے مطابق جتنا علم وہاں تھا اسے حاصل نہ کر لیا، پھر میں حجاز آیا تو وہاں سے بھی اس وقت تک نہیں نکلا جب تک کہ جتنا علم وہاں تھا اپنے خیال کے مطابق حاصل نہیں کر لیا، پھر عراق آیا تو وہاں سے بھی اس وقت تک نہیں نکلا جب تک کہ اپنے خیال کے مطابق جتنا علم وہاں تھا اسے حاصل نہ کر لیا، پھر میں شام آیا تو اسے بھی اچھی طرح چھان مارا، ہر شخص سے میں نفل کا حال پوچھتا تھا، میں نے کسی کو نہیں پایا جو اس سلسلہ میں کوئی حدیث بیان کرے، یہاں تک کہ میں ایک شیخ سے ملا جن کا نام زیاد بن جاریہ تمیمی تھا، میں نے ان سے پوچھا: کیا آپ نے نفل کے بارے میں کچھ سنا ہے؟ کہا: ہاں! میں نے حبیب بن مسلمہ فہری رضی اللہ عنہ کو کہتے سنا ہے کہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ حاضر تھا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ابتداء میں ایک چوتھائی بطور نفل دیا اور لوٹ آنے کے بعد ( پھر حملہ کرنے پر ) ۱؎ ایک تہائی بطور نفل دیا۔
