Hadith 2319 — Livre 14: Fasting (Kitab Al-Siyam)
كتاب الصوم
Rapporté par Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنه : « Le Prophète ﷺ a dit : “Le mois compte vingt-neuf jours, mais ne commencez pas le jeûne tant que vous ne l’avez pas vu (le croissant de lune), et ne rompez pas le jeûne tant que vous ne l’avez pas vu. Si le ciel est couvert, comptez trente jours.” Quand arrivait le vingt-neuvième jour de Sha’ban, Ibn Umar envoyait quelqu’un observer la lune pour lui. Si on la voyait, tant mieux ; sinon, et s’il n’y avait ni nuages ni poussière à l’horizon, il ne jeûnait pas le lendemain. S’il y avait des nuages ou de la poussière, il jeûnait le lendemain. Ibn Umar rompait le jeûne avec les gens, et ne suivait pas ce calcul. »

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ - عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّا أُمَّةٌ أُمِّيَّةٌ لاَ نَكْتُبُ وَلاَ نَحْسُبُ الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا " . وَخَنَسَ سُلَيْمَانُ أُصْبَعَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ يَعْنِي تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ وَثَلاَثِينَ .
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The month consists of twenty-nine days, but do not fast till you sight it (the moon) and do not break your fast till you sight it. If the weather is cloudy, calculate it thirty days. When the twenty-ninth of Sha'ban came, Ibn Umar would send someone (who tried) to sight the moon for him. If it was sighted, then well and good; in case it was not sighted, and there was no cloud and dust before him (on the horizon), he would not keep fast the next day. If there appeared (on the horizon) before him cloud or dust, he would fast the following day. Ibn Umar would end his fasting alone with the people, and did not follow this calculation

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہم ان پڑھ لوگ ہیں نہ ہم لکھنا جانتے ہیں اور نہ حساب و کتاب، مہینہ ایسا، ایسا اور ایسا ہوتا ہے، ( آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دونوں ہاتھوں کی انگلیوں سے بتایا ) ، راوی حدیث سلیمان نے تیسری بار میں اپنی انگلی بند کر لی، یعنی مہینہ انتیس اور تیس دن کا ہوتا ہے
