Hadith 117 — Livre 1: Purification (Kitab Al-Taharah)

Rapporté par Ibn ‘Abbas : ‘Ali b. Abi Talib est entré chez moi après être allé aux toilettes. Il a alors demandé de l’eau pour faire ses ablutions. Nous lui avons apporté un récipient d’eau et l’avons posé devant lui. Il a dit : « Ô Ibn ‘Abbas, veux-tu que je te montre comment le Messager d’Allah ﷺ faisait ses ablutions ? » J’ai répondu : « Bien sûr. » Il a alors incliné le récipient vers sa main et l’a lavée. Ensuite, il a mis sa main droite dans le récipient, a versé de l’eau sur l’autre main et a lavé ses mains jusqu’aux poignets. Il s’est ensuite rincé la bouche et a pris de l’eau dans le nez. Puis il a mis ses deux mains ensemble dans l’eau, a pris une poignée d’eau et l’a jetée sur son visage. Ensuite, il a inséré ses deux pouces dans le devant des oreilles. Il a fait cela deux ou trois fois. Ensuite, il a pris une poignée d’eau et l’a versée sur son front, laissant l’eau couler sur son visage. Il a ensuite lavé ses avant-bras jusqu’aux coudes trois fois. Il a ensuite essuyé sa tête et l’arrière de ses oreilles. Ensuite, il a mis ses deux mains ensemble dans l’eau, a pris une poignée d’eau et l’a jetée sur son pied. Il avait un soulier au pied ainsi. Il a demandé : « Laves-tu ton pied alors qu’il est dans la chaussure ? » Il a répondu : « Oui, alors qu’il est dans la chaussure. » Cette question et cette réponse ont été répétées trois fois. Abu Dawud a dit : La version transmise par Ibn Juraij d’après Shaibah est similaire à celle rapportée par ‘Ali. Dans cette version, Hajjaj rapporte d’après Ibn Juraij : « Il a essuyé sa tête une fois. » Ibn Wahb rapporte d’après Ibn Juraij : « Il a essuyé sa tête trois fois. »

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحَرَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ - عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَوْلاَنِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ عَلِيٌّ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - وَقَدْ أَهْرَاقَ الْمَاءَ فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَأَتَيْنَاهُ بِتَوْرٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ حَتَّى وَضَعْنَاهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَلاَ أُرِيكَ كَيْفَ كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قُلْتُ بَلَى . قَالَ فَأَصْغَى الإِنَاءَ عَلَى يَدِهِ فَغَسَلَهَا ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى فَأَفْرَغَ بِهَا عَلَى الأُخْرَى ثُمَّ غَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ تَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْثَرَ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَيْهِ فِي الإِنَاءِ جَمِيعًا فَأَخَذَ بِهِمَا حَفْنَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَضَرَبَ بِهَا عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ أَلْقَمَ إِبْهَامَيْهِ مَا أَقْبَلَ مِنْ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ الثَّالِثَةَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِكَفِّهِ الْيُمْنَى قَبْضَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَصَبَّهَا عَلَى نَاصِيَتِهِ فَتَرَكَهَا تَسْتَنُّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ ثَلاَثًا ثَلاَثًا ثُمَّ مَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَظُهُورَ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَدَيْهِ جَمِيعًا فَأَخَذَ حَفْنَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَضَرَبَ بِهَا عَلَى رِجْلِهِ وَفِيهَا النَّعْلُ فَفَتَلَهَا بِهَا ثُمَّ الأُخْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ . قَالَ قُلْتُ وَفِي النَّعْلَيْنِ قَالَ وَفِي النَّعْلَيْنِ . قَالَ قُلْتُ وَفِي النَّعْلَيْنِ قَالَ وَفِي النَّعْلَيْنِ . قَالَ قُلْتُ وَفِي النَّعْلَيْنِ قَالَ وَفِي النَّعْلَيْنِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ شَيْبَةَ يُشْبِهُ حَدِيثَ عَلِيٍّ لأَنَّهُ قَالَ فِيهِ حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً . وَقَالَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ فِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ ثَلاَثًا .
Traduction anglaise
Ibn’Abbas said:‘Ali b. Abi Talib entered upon me after he has passed water. He then called for water for ablution. We brought to him a vessel containing water, and placed it before him. He said: O Ibn’Abbas, may I not show you how the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) used to perform ablution? I replied : Why not? He then inclined the vessel to his hand and washed it. He then put his right hand in the vessel and poured water over the other hand and washed his hands up to the wrist. He then rinsed his mouth and snuffed up water. He then put both of his hands together in the water and took out a handful of water and threw it upon the face. He then inserted both of his thumbs in the front part of the ears. He did like that twice and thrice. He then took a handful of water and poured it over his forehead and left it running down his face. He then washed his forearms up to the elbow three times. He then wiped his head and the back of his ears. He then put both of his hands together in the water and took a handful of it and threw it on his foot. He had a shoe foot like that. Do you wash your foot while it is in the shoe? He replied : Yes, while it is in the shoe. This question and answer were repeated thrice. Abu Dawud said: The version transmitted by Ibn Juraij from Shaibah is similar to the one narrated by ‘ Ali. In this version Hajjaj reported on the authority of Ibn Juraij the wording: He wiped his head once. Ibn Wahb narrated from Ibn Juraij the wording: he wiped his head three times

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ علی بن ابی طالب رضی اللہ عنہ استنجاء کر کے میرے پاس آئے، اور وضو کے لیے پانی مانگا، ہم ایک پیالہ لے کر ان کے پاس آئے جس میں پانی تھا یہاں تک کہ ہم نے انہیں ان کے سامنے رکھا تو انہوں نے مجھ سے کہا: اے ابن عباس! کیا میں تمہیں دکھاؤں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کس طرح وضو کرتے تھے؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں، ضرور دکھائیے، تو آپ نے برتن جھکا کر ہاتھ پر پانی ڈالا پھر اسے دھویا پھر اپنا داہنا ہاتھ ( برتن میں ) داخل کیا ( اور پانی لے کر ) اسے دوسرے پر ڈالا پھر اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں کو دھویا، پھر کلی کی اور ناک جھاڑی، پھر اپنے دونوں ہاتھ ( ملا کر ) ایک ساتھ برتن میں ڈالے اور لپ بھر پانی لیا اور اسے اپنے منہ پر مارا پھر دونوں انگوٹھوں کو کانوں کے اندر یعنی سامنے کے رخ پر پھیرا، پھر دوسری اور تیسری بار ( بھی ) ایسا ہی کیا، پھر اپنی داہنی ہتھیلی میں ایک چلو پانی لے کر اپنی پیشانی پر ڈالا اور اسے چھوڑ دیا، وہ آپ کے چہرے پر بہہ رہا تھا، پھر دونوں ہاتھ تین تین بار کہنیوں تک دھوئے، اس کے بعد سر اور دونوں کانوں کے اوپری حصہ کا مسح کیا، پھر اپنے دونوں ہاتھ پانی میں ڈال کر ایک لپ بھر پانی لیا اور اسے ( دائیں ) پیر پر ڈالا، اس وقت وہ پیر میں جوتا پہنے ہوئے تھے اور اس سے پیر دھویا پھر دوسرے پیر پر بھی اسی طرح پانی ڈال کر اسے دھویا ۱؎۔ عبیداللہ خولانی کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ( عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے ) پوچھا: علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے دونوں پیر میں جوتا پہنے پہنے ایسا کیا؟ آپ نے کہا: ہاں، جوتا پہنے پہنے کیا، میں نے کہا: جوتا پہنے پہنے؟ آپ نے کہا: ہاں، جوتا پہنے پہنے، پھر میں نے کہا: جوتا پہنے پہنے؟ آپ نے کہا: ہاں چپل پہنے پہنے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: ابن جریج کی حدیث جسے انہوں نے شیبہ سے روایت کیا ہے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کی حدیث کے مشابہ ہے اس لیے کہ اس میں حجاج بن محمد نے ابن جریج سے «مسح برأسه مرة واحدة» کہا ہے اور ابن وہب نے اس میں ابن جریج سے «ومسح برأسه ثلاثا» روایت کیا ہے۔
