كتاب الصيام
Rapporté par 'Abdullah bin 'Amr : Mon père m'a marié à une femme et il est venu la voir et lui a demandé : "Que penses-tu de ton mari ?" Elle a répondu : "Quel homme formidable ! Il ne dort pas la nuit et il ne rompt pas son jeûne le jour." Il s'est fâché contre moi et a dit : "Je t'ai marié à une femme musulmane et tu la négliges." Je n'ai pas fait attention à ses paroles à cause de mon énergie et de mon amour pour l'adoration. Le Prophète ﷺ en a entendu parler et a dit : "Mais moi, je prie et je dors, je jeûne et je romps mon jeûne. Donc, prie et dors, jeûne et romps ton jeûne." Il a dit : "Jeûne trois jours chaque mois." J'ai dit : "Je peux faire plus." Il a dit : "Pratique le jeûne de Dawud, paix sur lui : jeûne un jour et romps ton jeûne un jour." J'ai dit : "Je peux faire plus." Il a dit : "Lis le Coran une fois par mois." Finalement, c'est devenu tous les quinze jours, et j'ai encore dit : "Je peux faire plus

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَصِينٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْثَرٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ زَوَّجَنِي أَبِي امْرَأَةً فَجَاءَ يَزُورُهَا فَقَالَ كَيْفَ تَرَيْنَ بَعْلَكِ فَقَالَتْ نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ رَجُلٍ لاَ يَنَامُ اللَّيْلَ وَلاَ يُفْطِرُ النَّهَارَ . فَوَقَعَ بِي وَقَالَ زَوَّجْتُكَ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَعَضَلْتَهَا . قَالَ فَجَعَلْتُ لاَ أَلْتَفِتُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ مِمَّا أَرَى عِنْدِي مِنَ الْقُوَّةِ وَالاِجْتِهَادِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " لَكِنِّي أَنَا أَقُومُ وَأَنَامُ وَأَصُومُ وَأُفْطِرُ فَقُمْ وَنَمْ وَصُمْ وَأَفْطِرْ " . قَالَ " صُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ " . فَقُلْتُ أَنَا أَقْوَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ . قَالَ " صُمْ صَوْمَ دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ صُمْ يَوْمًا وَأَفْطِرْ يَوْمًا " . قُلْتُ أَنَا أَقْوَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ . قَالَ " اقْرَإِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ " . ثُمَّ انْتَهَى إِلَى خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ أَنَا أَقْوَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said:"My father got me married to a woman and he came to visit her and said: 'What do you think of your husband?' She said: 'What a wonderful man he is. He does not sleep at night and he does not break his fast during the day.' He got upset with me and said: 'I got you married to a woman from among the Muslims and you have neglected her.' I did not pay attention to what he said because of my energy and love of worship. News of that reached the Prophet and he said: 'But I stand (in prayer) and I sleep, I fast and I break my fast. So stand (in prayer) and sleep, fast and break your fast.' He said: 'Fast three days of every month.' I said: 'I am able to do more than that.' He said: 'O bserve the fast of Dawud, peace be upon him: fast one day and break your fast one day.' I said: 'I am able to do more than that.' He said: 'Read the Quran (once) every month.' Then it ended up being every fifteen days, and I still said: 'I am able to do more than that."' 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Prophet said: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted

عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میرے والد نے میری شادی ایک عورت سے کر دی، وہ اس سے ملاقات کے لیے آئے، تو اس سے پوچھا: تم نے اپنے شوہر کو کیسا پایا؟ اس نے کہا: کیا ہی بہترین آدمی ہیں نہ رات میں سوتے ہیں اور نہ دن میں کھاتے پیتے ہیں، ۱؎ تو انہوں نے مجھے سخت سست کہا اور بولے: میں نے تیری شادی ایک مسلمان لڑکی سے کی ہے، اور تو اسے چھوڑے رکھے ہے۔ میں نے ان کی بات پر دھیان نہیں دیا اس لیے کہ میں اپنے اندر قوت اور ( نیکیوں میں ) آگے بڑھنے کی صلاحیت پاتا تھا، یہ بات نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تک پہنچی تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”میں رات میں قیام بھی کرتا ہوں اور سوتا بھی ہوں، روزہ بھی رکھتا ہوں اور کھاتا پیتا بھی ہوں، تو تم بھی قیام کرو اور سوؤ بھی۔ اور روزہ رکھو اور افطار بھی کرو، ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھا کرو“ میں نے کہا: میں اس سے زیادہ کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تو پھر تم «صیام داودی» رکھا کرو، ایک دن روزہ رکھو اور ایک دن کھاؤ پیو“، میں نے عرض کیا: میں اس سے بھی زیادہ کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہر مہینہ ایک مرتبہ قرآن پڑھا کرو“، پھر آپ ( کم کرتے کرتے ) پندرہ دن پر آ کر ٹھہر گئے، اور میں کہتا ہی رہا کہ میں اس سے زیادہ کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں۔
