Hadith 1713 — Livre 7: Fasting
كتاب الصوم
Rapporté par Abu Qatadah : ‘Umar bin Khattab a dit : “Ô Messager d’Allah ! Qu’en est-il de celui qui jeûne deux jours et ne jeûne pas un jour ?” Il a répondu : “Qui est capable de faire cela ?” Il a dit : “Ô Messager d’Allah ! Et celui qui jeûne un jour sur deux ?” Il a dit : “C’est le jeûne de Dawud.” Il a dit : “Et celui qui jeûne un jour puis ne jeûne pas les deux jours suivants ?” Il a dit : “J’aimerais avoir la force de faire cela.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلاَنُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! كَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمَيْنِ وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا؟ قَالَ: " وَيُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ أَحَدٌ " . قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! كَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا؟ قَالَ: " ذَلِكَ صَوْمُ دَاوُدَ " . قَالَ: كَيْفَ بِمَنْ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمَيْنِ؟ قَالَ: " وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي طُوِّقْتُ ذَلِكَ " .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Abu Qatadah said:“Umar bin Khattab said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! What about a person who fasts two days and does not fast one day?’ He said: ‘Is anyone able to do that?’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! What about a person who fasts one day and not the next?’ He said: ‘That is the fast of Dawud.’ He said: ‘What about a man who fasts one day and does not fast the next two days?’ He said: ‘I wish that I were given the ability to do that.’”
Traduction en ourdou
ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! جو شخص دو دن روزہ رکھے اور ایک دن افطار کرے وہ کیسا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: بھلا ایسا کرنے کی کسی میں طاقت ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو ایک دن روزہ رکھے اور ایک دن افطار کرے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ داود علیہ السلام کا روزہ ہے، پھر انہوں نے کہا: وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو ایک دن روزہ رکھے اور دو دن افطار کرے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: میری تمنا ہے کہ مجھے اس کی طاقت ہوتی ۱؎۔
