Hadith 1240 — Livre 5: Establishing the Prayer and the Sunnah Regarding Them
كتاب إقامة الصلاة والسنن فيها
Rapporté par Jabir : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) est tombé malade, et nous avons prié derrière lui alors qu’il était assis, et Abu Bakr disait le Takbir pour que les gens l’entendent. Il s’est tourné vers nous et nous a vus debout, alors il nous a fait signe de nous asseoir. Quand il a terminé la prière, il a dit : “Vous étiez sur le point de faire comme les Perses et les Romains, qui restent debout alors que leurs rois sont assis. Ne faites pas cela. Suivez votre imam : s’il prie debout, priez debout, et s’il prie assis, priez assis.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ اشْتَكَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَصَلَّيْنَا وَرَاءَهُ وَهُوَ قَاعِدٌ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ يُكَبِّرُ يُسْمِعُ النَّاسَ تَكْبِيرَهُ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْنَا فَرَآنَا قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَعَدْنَا فَصَلَّيْنَا بِصَلاَتِهِ قُعُودًا فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَالَ " إِنْ كِدْتُمْ أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا فِعْلَ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومِ يَقُومُونَ عَلَى مُلُوكِهِمْ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ فَلاَ تَفْعَلُوا ائْتَمُّوا بِأَئِمَّتِكُمْ إِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا " .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Jabir said:“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) fell ill, and we prayed behind him while he was sitting down, and Abu Bakr was saying the Takbir so that the people could hear them. He turned to us and saw us standing, so he gestured to us to sit down. When he had said the Salam, he said: ‘You were about to do the action of the Persians and Romans, who remain standing while their kings are seated. Do not do that. Follow the lead of your Imam; if he prays standing, then pray standing, and if he prays sitting down, then pray sitting down.’”

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیمار ہوئے تو ہم نے آپ کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، آپ بیٹھے ہوئے تھے، اور ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ تکبیر کہہ رہے تھے تاکہ لوگ سن لیں، آپ ہماری جانب متوجہ ہوئے تو ہمیں کھڑے دیکھ کر ہماری جانب اشارہ کیا، ہم بیٹھ گئے، پھر ہم نے آپ کے ساتھ بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھی، جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سلام پھیرا تو فرمایا: اس وقت تم فارس اور روم والوں کی طرح کرنے والے تھے کہ وہ لوگ اپنے بادشاہوں کے سامنے کھڑے ہوتے ہیں، اور بادشاہ بیٹھے رہتے ہیں، لہٰذا تم ایسا نہ کرو، اپنے اماموں کی اقتداء کرو، اگر وہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھائیں تو کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو، اور اگر بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائیں تو بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھو ۱؎۔
