Rapporté par Abu Hurairah : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) a dit : “Vous suivrez sûrement les habitudes de ceux qui vous ont précédés, coudée par coudée, empan par empan, jusqu’à ce que même s’ils entraient dans un trou de lézard, vous y entreriez aussi.” Ils ont demandé : “Ô Messager d’Allah, (parles-tu) des Juifs et des Chrétiens ?” Il a répondu : “Qui d’autre ?”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُنَّةَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بَاعًا بِبَاعٍ وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ وَشِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا فِي جُحْرِ ضَبٍّ لَدَخَلْتُمْ فِيهِ " . قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَالَ " فَمَنْ إِذًا " .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:“You will most certainly follow the ways of those who came before you, arm’s length by arm’s length, forearm’s length by forearm’s length, hand span by hand span, until even if they entered a hole of a mastigure (lizard) you will enter it too.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, (do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?” He said: “Who else?”
Traduction en ourdou
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم پہلی امتوں کے نقش قدم پر چلو گے اگر وہ ہاتھ پھیلانے کے مقدار چلے ہوں گے ۱؎، تو تم بھی وہی مقدار چلو گے، اور اگر وہ ایک ہاتھ چلے ہوں گے تو تم بھی ایک ہاتھ چلو گے، اور اگر وہ ایک بالشت چلے ہوں گے تو تم بھی ایک بالشت چلو گے، یہاں تک کہ اگر وہ گوہ کے سوراخ میں داخل ہوئے ہوں گے تو تم بھی اس میں داخل ہو گے ، لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا وہ یہود اور نصاریٰ ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تب اور کون ہو سکتے ہیں ؟ ۲؎۔
