Rapporté par Shuraih bin Hani' : J’ai demandé à ‘Aïsha au sujet de l’essuyage sur les chaussons en cuir et elle a répondu : "Va voir ‘Ali et demande-lui, car il en sait plus que moi à ce sujet." Je suis donc allé voir ‘Ali et je lui ai posé la question. Il a dit : "Le Messager d’Allah nous disait que la personne qui reste chez elle peut essuyer pendant un jour et une nuit, et le voyageur pendant trois jours

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ، عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ فَقَالَتِ ائْتِ عَلِيًّا فَسَلْهُ فَإِنَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِذَلِكَ مِنِّي . فَأَتَيْتُ عَلِيًّا فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نَمْسَحَ لِلْمُقِيمِ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً وَلِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Shuraih bin Hani' said:"I asked 'Aishah about wiping over the leather socks and she said: 'Go to 'Ali and ask him, for he knows more about that than I do.' So I went to 'Ali and asked him about wiping. He said: 'The Messenger of Allah used to tell us that the resident could wipe for one day and one night, and the traveler could do so for three days

شریح بن ہانی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے موزوں پر مسح کے متعلق پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا: علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس جاؤ، اور ان سے پوچھو، اس لیے کہ وہ اس مسئلہ کو مجھ سے زیادہ بہتر جانتے ہیں، چنانچہ میں علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آیا اور ان سے مسح کے متعلق سوال کیا تو انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہم کو حکم دیتے تھے کہ مقیم ایک دن اور ایک رات، اور مسافر تین دن تک مسح کرے۔
