المقدمة (كتاب السنة)
Rapporté par Nafi' bin 'Abdul-Harith : Il a rencontré 'Umar bin Khattab à 'Usfan, alors qu’'Umar l’avait nommé gouverneur à La Mecque. 'Umar a demandé : "Qui as-tu nommé comme adjoint sur les gens de la vallée ?" Il a répondu : "J’ai nommé Ibn Abza." 'Umar a dit : "Qui est Ibn Abza ?" Nafi' a répondu : "C’est l’un de nos affranchis." 'Umar a dit : "Tu as nommé un affranchi sur eux ?" Nafi' a répondu : "Il a une grande connaissance du Livre d’Allah, il maîtrise les règles de l’héritage et c’est un bon juge." 'Umar a dit : "Votre Prophète n’a-t-il pas dit : 'Allah élève certains grâce à ce Livre et en abaisse d’autres à cause de lui ?

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَرْوَانَ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعُثْمَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ، لَقِيَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بِعُسْفَانَ - وَكَانَ عُمَرُ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى مَكَّةَ - فَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَنِ اسْتَخْلَفْتَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْوَادِي قَالَ اسْتَخْلَفْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ ابْنَ أَبْزَى . قَالَ وَمَنِ ابْنُ أَبْزَى قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ مَوَالِينَا . قَالَ عُمَرُ فَاسْتَخْلَفْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَوْلًى قَالَ إِنَّهُ قَارِئٌ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى عَالِمٌ بِالْفَرَائِضِ قَاضٍ . قَالَ عُمَرُ أَمَا إِنَّ نَبِيَّكُمْ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَرْفَعُ بِهَذَا الْكِتَابِ أَقْوَامًا وَيَضَعُ بِهِ آخَرِينَ " .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Nafi' bin 'Abdul-Harith met 'Umar bin Khattab in 'Usfan, when 'Umar had appointed him as his governer in Makkah.:'Umar asked: "Whom have you appointed as your deputy over the people of the valley?" He said: "I have appointed Ibn Abza over them." 'Umar said: "Who is Ibn Abza?" Nafi' said: "One of our freed slaves." 'Umar said: "Have you appointed a freed slave over them?" Nafi' said: "He has great knowledge of the Book of Allah, is well versed in the rules of inheritance (Fara'id) and is a (good) judge." 'Umar said: "Did not your prophet say: 'Allah raises some people (in status) because of this book and brings others low because of it?

عامر بن واثلہ ابوالطفیل رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نافع بن عبدالحارث کی ملاقات عمر بن الخطاب رضی اللہ عنہ سے مقام عسفان میں ہوئی، عمر بن الخطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کو مکہ کا عامل بنا رکھا تھا، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا: تم کس کو اہل وادی ( مکہ ) پر اپنا نائب بنا کر آئے ہو؟ نافع نے کہا: میں نے ان پر اپنا نائب ابن ابزیٰ کو مقرر کیا ہے، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے پوچھا: ابن ابزیٰ کون ہے؟ نافع نے کہا: ہمارے غلاموں میں سے ایک ہیں ۱؎، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: تم نے ان پہ ایک غلام کو اپنا نائب مقرر کر دیا؟ نافع نے عرض کیا: ابن ابزیٰ کتاب اللہ ( قرآن ) کا قاری، مسائل میراث کا عالم اور قاضی ہے، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اگر بات یوں ہے تو تمہارے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: اللہ تعالیٰ اس کتاب ( قرآن ) کے ذریعہ بہت سی قوموں کو سربلند، اور بہت سی قوموں کو پست کرتا ہے ۔
