Rapporté par Anas : Chaque fois qu’il y avait une sécheresse, `Umar bin Al-Khattab demandait à Al-Abbas bin `Abdul Muttalib d’invoquer Allah pour la pluie. Il disait : « Ô Allah ! Nous demandions à notre Prophète d’invoquer pour la pluie, et Tu nous accordais la pluie, et maintenant nous demandons à son oncle d’invoquer pour la pluie. Ô Allah ! Accorde-nous la pluie ! » Et il pleuvait

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ كَانَ إِذَا قَحَطُوا اسْتَسْقَى بِالْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّنَا فَتَسْقِينَا وَإِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِعَمِّ نَبِيِّنَا فَاسْقِنَا. قَالَ فَيُسْقَوْنَ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Anas:Whenever drought threatened them, `Umar bin Al-Khattab, used to ask Al-Abbas bin `Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain. He used to say, "O Allah! We used to ask our Prophet to invoke You for rain, and You would bless us with rain, and now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain. O Allah ! Bless us with rain."(1) And so it would rain

ہم سے حسن بن محمد بن صباح نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے محمد بن عبداللہ بن مثنی انصاری نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے باپ عبداللہ بن مثنی نے بیان کیا، ان سے ثمامہ بن عبداللہ بن انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے، ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ جب کبھی عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے زمانہ میں قحط پڑتا تو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ عباس بن عبدالمطلب رضی اللہ عنہ کے وسیلہ سے دعا کرتے اور فرماتے کہ اے اللہ! پہلے ہم تیرے پاس اپنے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا وسیلہ لایا کرتے تھے۔ تو، تو پانی برساتا تھا۔ اب ہم اپنے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے چچا کو وسیلہ بناتے ہیں تو، تو ہم پر پانی برسا۔ انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ چنانچہ بارش خوب ہی برسی۔
