Rapporté par ‘Awf : J’ai entendu al-Hajjaj s’adresser au peuple et dire : « La ressemblance de ‘Uthman auprès d’Allah est comme celle de Jésus, fils de Marie. » Il a ensuite récité ce verset et l’a expliqué : « Rappelle-toi ! Allah a dit : Ô Jésus ! Je vais te reprendre et t’élever vers Moi, et te purifier de ceux qui ont mécru. » Il faisait un geste de la main vers nous et vers les gens de Syrie

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ظَفَرٍ عَبْدُ السَّلاَمِ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ، يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ مَثَلَ عُثْمَانَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ يَقْرَؤُهَا وَيَفُسِّرُهَا { إِذْ قَالَ اللَّهُ يَا عِيسَى إِنِّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَىَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا } يُشِيرُ إِلَيْنَا بِيَدِهِ وَإِلَى أَهْلِ الشَّامِ .
Traduction anglaise
‘Awf said:I heard al-Hajjaj addressing the people say: The similitude of ‘Uthman with Allah is like the similitude of Jesus son of Mary. He then recited the following verse and explained it: “Behold! Allah said: O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehood) of those who blaspheme.” He was making a sign with his hand to us and to the people of Syria
Traduction en ourdou
عوف الا عرابی کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے حجاج کو خطبہ میں یہ کہتے سنا: عثمان کی مثال اللہ کے نزدیک عیسیٰ بن مریم کی طرح ہے، پھر انہوں نے آیت کریمہ «إذ قال الله يا عيسى إني متوفيك ورافعك إلى ومطهرك من الذين كفروا» جب اللہ نے کہا کہ: اے عیسیٰ! میں تجھے پورا لینے والا ہوں، اور تجھے اپنی جانب اٹھانے والا ہوں، اور تجھے کافروں سے پاک کرنے والا ہوں ( سورۃ آل عمران: ۵۵ ) پڑھی اور اپنے ہاتھ سے ہماری اور اہل شام کی طرف اشارہ کر رہے تھے ۱؎۔
