Hadith 4418 — Livre 40: Prescribed Punishments (Kitab Al-Hudud)
كتاب الحدود
‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abbas رضي الله عنه a dit : ‘Umar b. al-Khattab a prononcé un discours en disant : « Allah a envoyé Muhammad ﷺ avec la vérité et a fait descendre les Livres sur lui, et le verset de la lapidation faisait partie de ce qu’Il lui a révélé. Nous l’avons lu et mémorisé. Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a fait lapider des gens et nous l’avons fait aussi après sa mort. J’ai peur que les gens disent, avec le temps : “Nous ne trouvons pas le verset de la lapidation dans les Livres d’Allah”, et qu’ils s’égarent en abandonnant un devoir qu’Allah a prescrit. La lapidation est une obligation fixée (par Allah) pour les hommes et les femmes mariés qui commettent la fornication, lorsque la preuve est établie, ou s’il y a grossesse, ou un aveu. Je jure par Allah, si ce n’était pas par crainte que les gens disent : “Umar a ajouté au Livre d’Allah”, je l’aurais écrit (dedans). »

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ - رضى الله عنه خَطَبَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَعَثَ مُحَمَّدًا صلى الله عليه وسلم بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ فَكَانَ فِيمَا أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْهِ آيَةُ الرَّجْمِ فَقَرَأْنَاهَا وَوَعَيْنَاهَا وَرَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَرَجَمْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ - إِنْ طَالَ بِالنَّاسِ الزَّمَانُ - أَنْ يَقُولَ قَائِلٌ مَا نَجِدُ آيَةَ الرَّجْمِ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَيَضِلُّوا بِتَرْكِ فَرِيضَةٍ أَنْزَلَهَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فَالرَّجْمُ حَقٌّ عَلَى مَنْ زَنَى مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءِ إِذَا كَانَ مُحْصَنًا إِذَا قَامَتِ الْبَيِّنَةُ أَوْ كَانَ حَمْلٌ أَوِ اعْتِرَافٌ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَوْلاَ أَنْ يَقُولَ النَّاسُ زَادَ عُمَرُ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَكَتَبْتُهَا .
Traduction anglaise
‘Abd Allah b. ‘Abbas said:‘Umar b. al-Khattab gave an address saying: Allah sent Muhammad (ﷺ) with truth and sent down the Books of him, and the verse of stoning was included in what He sent down to him. We read it and memorized it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had people stoned to death and we have done it also since his death. I am afraid the people might say with the passage of time: We do not find the verse of stoning in the Books of Allah, and thus they stray by abandoning a duty which Allah had received. Stoning is a duty laid down (by Allah) for married men and women who commit fornication when proof is established, or if there is pregnancy, or a confession. I swear by Allah, had it not been so that the people might say: ‘Umar made an addition to Allah’s Book, I would have written it (there)
Traduction en ourdou
عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے خطبہ دیا اس میں آپ نے کہا: اللہ نے محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو حق کے ساتھ بھیجا اور آپ پر کتاب نازل فرمائی، تو جو آیتیں آپ پر نازل ہوئیں ان میں آیت رجم بھی ہے، ہم نے اسے پڑھا، اور یاد رکھا، خود رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رجم کیا، آپ کے بعد ہم نے بھی رجم کیا، اور مجھے اندیشہ ہے کہ اگر زیادہ عرصہ گزر جائے تو کوئی کہنے والا یہ نہ کہے کہ ہم اللہ کی کتاب میں آیت رجم نہیں پاتے، تو وہ اس فریضہ کو جسے اللہ نے نازل فرمایا ہے چھوڑ کر گمراہ ہو جائے، لہٰذا مردوں اور عورتوں میں سے جو زنا کرے اسے رجم ( سنگسار ) کرنا برحق ہے، جب وہ شادی شدہ ہو اور دلیل قائم ہو چکی ہو، یا حمل ہو جائے یا اعتراف کرے، اور قسم اللہ کی اگر لوگ یہ نہ کہتے کہ عمر نے اللہ کی کتاب میں زیادتی کی ہے تو میں اسے یعنی آیت رجم کو مصحف میں لکھ دیتا۔
