Rapporté par Omar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه alors qu'il donnait un sermon : Salih ibn Muhammad ibn Za’idah (Abu Dawud a dit : Ce Salih est Abu Waqid) a dit : Nous sommes entrés en territoire byzantin avec Maslamah. Un homme qui avait été malhonnête avec le butin a été amené. Maslamah a demandé à Salim à son sujet. Il a dit : « J’ai entendu mon père rapporter d’Omar ibn al-Khattab, du Prophète ﷺ : “Quand vous trouvez un homme qui a été malhonnête avec le butin, brûlez ses biens et frappez-le.” » Il l’a frappé. Nous avons trouvé dans ses biens un exemplaire du Coran. Il a de nouveau demandé à Salim à ce sujet. Il a dit : « Vendez-le et donnez son prix en aumône. »

حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، - قَالَ النُّفَيْلِيُّ الأَنْدَرَاوَرْدِيُّ - عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَائِدَةَ، - قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَصَالِحٌ هَذَا أَبُو وَاقِدٍ - قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ مَسْلَمَةَ أَرْضَ الرُّومِ فَأُتِيَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ غَلَّ فَسَأَلَ سَالِمًا عَنْهُ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " إِذَا وَجَدْتُمُ الرَّجُلَ قَدْ غَلَّ فَأَحْرِقُوا مَتَاعَهُ وَاضْرِبُوهُ " . قَالَ فَوَجَدْنَا فِي مَتَاعِهِ مُصْحَفًا فَسَأَلَ سَالِمًا عَنْهُ فَقَالَ بِعْهُ وَتَصَدَّقْ بِثَمَنِهِ .

Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: Salih ibn Muhammad ibn Za'idah (AbuDawud said: This Salih is AbuWaqid) said: We entered the Byzantine territory with Maslamah. A man who had been dishonest about booty was brought. He (Maslamah) asked Salim about him. He said: I heard my father narrating from Umar ibn al-Khattab from the Prophet (ﷺ). He said: When you find a man who has been dishonest about booty, burn his property, and beat him. He beat him. He said: We found in his property a copy of the Qur'an. He again asked Salim about it. He said: Sell it and give its price in charity

صالح بن محمد بن زائدہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں مسلمہ کے ساتھ روم کی سر زمین میں گیا تو وہاں ایک شخص لایا گیا جس نے مال غنیمت میں چوری کی تھی، انہوں نے سالم سے اس سلسلہ میں مسئلہ پوچھا تو سالم بن عبداللہ نے کہا: میں نے اپنے والد کو بیان کرتے ہوئے سنا وہ عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ سے اور وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کر رہے تھے آپ نے فرمایا کہ جب تم کسی ایسے شخص کو پاؤ کہ جس نے مال غنیمت میں خیانت کی ہو تو اس کا سامان جلا دو، اور اسے مارو۔ راوی کہتے ہیں: ہمیں اس کے سامان میں ایک مصحف بھی ملا تو مسلمہ نے سالم سے اس کے متعلق پوچھا، انہوں نے کہا: اسے بیچ دو اور اس کی قیمت صدقہ کر دو۔
