Rapporté par Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman : J'ai entendu Mu'awiyah dire, alors qu'il était sur le Minbar à Médine, et il a sorti une perruque de sa manche : "Ô gens de Médine, où sont vos savants ? J'ai entendu le Messager d'Allah ﷺ interdire ce genre de choses, et il a dit : 'Les Enfants d'Israël ont été détruits lorsque leurs femmes ont commencé à porter ce genre de choses

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَأَخْرَجَ مِنْ كُمِّهِ قُصَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ وَقَالَ " إِنَّمَا هَلَكَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَ نِسَاؤُهُمْ مِثْلَ هَذَا " .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman said:"I heard Mu'awiyah say, when he was on the Minbar in Al-Madinah, and he brought out a hairpiece from his sleeve: 'O people of Al-Madinah, where are your knowledgeable ones? I heard the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid such things as this, and he said: "The Children of Israel were destroyed when their women started to wear things like this
