Hadith 3608 — Livre 29: The Book of Endowments
كتاب الأحباس
Rapporté par Thumamah ibn Hazn Al-Qushairi : « J’étais présent dans la maison quand 'Uthman est apparu à la fenêtre et a dit : “Je vous adjure par Allah et par l’Islam, savez-vous que lorsque le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est venu à Médine, il n’y avait pas d’eau douce sauf celle du puits de Rumah, et il a dit : ‘Qui achètera le puits de Rumah et y puisera de l’eau avec les musulmans, en échange d’un meilleur puits au Paradis ?’ Et je l’ai acheté avec mon argent, puis j’y ai puisé de l’eau avec les musulmans. Pourtant aujourd’hui, vous m’empêchez d’en boire, si bien que je dois boire de l’eau salée.” Ils dirent : “Par Allah, oui.” Il dit : “Je vous adjure par Allah et par l’Islam, savez-vous que j’ai équipé l’armée d’Al-‘Usrah (Tabuk) avec mes propres biens ?” Ils dirent : “Par Allah, oui.” Il dit : “Je vous adjure par Allah et par l’Islam, savez-vous que lorsque la mosquée est devenue trop petite pour les gens et que le Messager d’Allah ﷺ a dit : ‘Qui achètera le terrain de la famille untel et l’ajoutera à la mosquée, en échange d’un meilleur terrain au Paradis ?’ Je l’ai acheté avec mon argent et je l’ai ajouté à la mosquée. Pourtant maintenant, vous m’empêchez d’y prier deux unités de prière.” Ils dirent : “Par Allah, oui.” Il dit : “Je vous adjure par Allah et par l’Islam, savez-vous que lorsque le Messager d’Allah ﷺ était sur le mont Thabir – le Thabir à La Mecque – avec Abou Bakr, 'Umar et moi-même, la montagne a tremblé, et le Messager d’Allah ﷺ l’a frappée du pied en disant : ‘Reste tranquille, Thabir, car tu portes un Prophète, un véridique et deux martyrs.’” Ils dirent : “Par Allah, oui.” Il dit : “Allahu Akbar ! Ils ont témoigné en ma faveur, par le Seigneur de la Kaaba” – c’est-à-dire qu’il est un martyr. »

أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ حَزْنٍ الْقُشَيْرِيِّ، قَالَ شَهِدْتُ الدَّارَ حِينَ أَشْرَفَ عَلَيْهِمْ عُثْمَانُ فَقَالَ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَلَيْسَ بِهَا مَاءٌ يُسْتَعْذَبُ غَيْرَ بِئْرِ رُومَةَ فَقَالَ " مَنْ يَشْتَرِي بِئْرَ رُومَةَ فَيَجْعَلُ فِيهَا دَلْوَهُ مَعَ دِلاَءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِخَيْرٍ لَهُ مِنْهَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ " . فَاشْتَرَيْتُهَا مِنْ صُلْبِ مَالِي فَجَعَلْتُ دَلْوِي فِيهَا مَعَ دِلاَءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَأَنْتُمُ الْيَوْمَ تَمْنَعُونِي مِنَ الشُّرْبِ مِنْهَا حَتَّى أَشْرَبَ مِنْ مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ . قَالَ فَأَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَالإِسْلاَمِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي جَهَّزْتُ جَيْشَ الْعُسْرَةِ مِنْ مَالِي قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ . قَالَ فَأَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَالإِسْلاَمِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ ضَاقَ بِأَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنْ يَشْتَرِي بُقْعَةَ آلِ فُلاَنٍ فَيَزِيدُهَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ بِخَيْرٍ لَهُ مِنْهَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ " . فَاشْتَرَيْتُهَا مِنْ صُلْبِ مَالِي فَزِدْتُهَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَأَنْتُمْ تَمْنَعُونِي أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ . قَالَ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَالإِسْلاَمِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ عَلَى ثَبِيرٍ ثَبِيرِ مَكَّةَ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَأَنَا فَتَحَرَّكَ الْجَبَلُ فَرَكَضَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِرِجْلِهِ وَقَالَ " اسْكُنْ ثَبِيرُ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ نَبِيٌّ وَصِدِّيقٌ وَشَهِيدَانِ " . قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ . قَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ شَهِدُوا لِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ . يَعْنِي أَنِّي شَهِيدٌ .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Thumamah bin Hazn Al-Qushairi said:"I was present at the house when 'Uthman looked out over them and said: 'I adjure you by Allah and by Islam, are you aware that when the Messenger of Allah came to Al-Madinah, and it had no water that was considered sweet (suitable for drinking) except the well of Rumah, he said: "Who will buy the well of Rumah and dip his bucket in it alongside the buckets of the Muslims, in return for a better one in Paradise?" and I bought it with my capital and dipped my bucket into it alongside the buckets of the Muslims? Yet today you are preventing me from drinking from it, so that I have to drink salty water.' They said: 'By Allah, yes.' He said: 'I adjure you by Allah and by Islam, are you aware that I equipped the army of Al-'Usrah (Tabuk) from my own wealth?' They said: 'By Allah, yes.' He said: 'I adjure you by Allah and by Islam, are you aware that when the Masjid became too small for the people and the Messenger of Allah said: Who will buy the plot of the family of so and so and add it to the Masjid, in return for a better plot in Paradise? I bought it with my capital and added it to the Masjid? Yet now you are preventing me from praying two Rak'ahs therein.' They said: 'By Allah, yes.' He said: 'I adjure you by Allah and by Islam, are you aware that when the Messenger of Allah was atop Thabir -the Thabir in Makkah- and with him were Abu Bakr, 'Umar and myself, the mountain shook, and the Messenger of Allah kicked it with his foot and said: Be still, Thabir, for upon you are a Prophet, a Siddiq and two martyrs?' They said: 'By Allah, yes.' He said: 'Allahu Akbar! They have testified for me, by the Lord of the Ka'bah' -i.e., that I am a martyr

ثمامہ بن حزن قشیری سے روایت ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں اس وقت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کے گھر موجود تھا جب انہوں نے اوپر سے جھانک کر لوگوں کو مخاطب کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا: میں تم سے اللہ اور اسلام کا واسطہ دے کر پوچھتا ہوں کیا تمہیں معلوم ہے جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مدینہ آئے تو وہاں بئررومہ کے سوا کہیں بھی پینے کا میٹھا پانی نہ تھا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تھا: ”ہے کوئی جو رومہ کا کنواں خرید کر ( وقف کر کے ) اپنے اور تمام مسلمانوں کے ڈولوں کو یکساں کر دے اس کے عوض اسے جنت میں اس سے بہتر ملے گا“۔ میں نے ( آپ کے اس ارشاد کے بعد ) اسے اپنے ذاتی مال سے خرید کر اپنا ڈول عام مسلمانوں کے ڈول کے ساتھ کر دیا ( یعنی وقف کر دیا اور اپنے لیے کوئی تخصیص نہ کی ) اور آج یہ حال ہے کہ تم لوگ مجھے اس کا پانی پینے نہیں دے رہے ہو، حال یہ ہے کہ میں سمندر کا ( کھارا ) پانی پی رہا ہوں۔ لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں، ( اسی طرح ہے ) ( پھر ) انہوں نے کہا: میں تم سے اسلام اور اللہ کا واسطہ دے کر پوچھتا ہوں کیا تم جانتے ہو جیش عسرہ ( ضرورت مند لشکر ) کو میں نے اپنا مال صرف کر کے جنگ میں شریک ہونے کے قابل بنایا تھا۔ ان لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں، ( ایسا ہی ہے ) انہوں نے ( پھر ) کہا: میں تم سے اللہ اور اسلام کی قسم دے کر پوچھتا ہوں کیا تمہیں معلوم ہے مسجد اپنے نمازیوں پر تنگ ہو گئی تھی، آپ نے فرمایا تھا: ”کون ہے جو فلاں خاندان کی زمین کو خرید کر جنت میں اس سے بہتر پانے کے لیے اسے مسجد میں شامل کر کے مسجد کو مزید وسعت دیدے“۔ تو میں نے اس زمین کے کئی ٹکڑے کو اپنا ذاتی مال صرف کر کے خرید لیا تھا اور مسجد میں اس کا اضافہ کر دیا تھا اور تمہارا حال آج یہ ہے کہ تم لوگ مجھے اس میں دو رکعت نماز پڑھنے تک نہیں دے رہے ہو۔ لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں ( بجا فرما رہے ہیں آپ ) ۔ انہوں نے ( پھر ) کہا: میں تم سے اللہ اور اسلام کا واسطہ دے کر پوچھتا ہوں کیا تم لوگ جانتے ہو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مکہ کی پہاڑیوں میں سے ایک پہاڑی پر تھے اور آپ کے ساتھ ابوبکر و عمر بھی تھے اور میں بھی تھا، اس وقت وہ پہاڑ ہلنے لگا تھا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے ٹھوکر لگائی اور فرمایا: ”ثبیر! سکون سے رہ، کیونکہ ( یہاں ) تیرے اوپر نبی، صدیق اور دو شہید موجود ہیں“۔ لوگوں نے کہا: اللہ گواہ ہے، ہاں ( آپ ٹھیک کہتے ہیں ) انہوں نے کہا: اللہ اکبر، اللہ بہت بڑا ہے۔ ان لوگوں نے ( میرے شہید ہونے کی ) گواہی دی۔ رب کعبہ کی قسم میں شہید ہوں۔
