Rapporté par Mu'adh bin Hisham : "Mon père m'a rapporté, de Qatadah, de Zurarah bin Awfa, de Sa'd bin Hisham, que 'Aishah a dit : 'Quand le Messager d'Allah (ﷺ) priait le witr en neuf rak'ahs, il ne s'asseyait qu'à la huitième rak'ah. Ensuite, il louait Allah (SWT), se souvenait de Lui et invoquait, puis il se levait sans dire le taslim, puis il priait la neuvième, puis il s'asseyait, se souvenait d'Allah (SWT) et invoquait. Ensuite, il faisait un taslim que nous pouvions entendre. Puis il priait deux rak'ahs assis. Quand il est devenu plus âgé et plus faible, il priait le witr en sept rak'ahs et ne s'asseyait qu'à la sixième. Ensuite, il se levait sans dire le taslim, priait la septième, puis il faisait le taslim, puis il priait deux rak'ahs assis

أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا أَوْتَرَ بِتِسْعِ رَكَعَاتٍ لَمْ يَقْعُدْ إِلاَّ فِي الثَّامِنَةِ فَيَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ وَيَذْكُرُهُ وَيَدْعُو ثُمَّ يَنْهَضُ وَلاَ يُسَلِّمُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي التَّاسِعَةَ فَيَجْلِسُ فَيَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَدْعُو ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ تَسْلِيمَةً يُسْمِعُنَا ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فَلَمَّا كَبِرَ وَضَعُفَ أَوْتَرَ بِسَبْعِ رَكَعَاتٍ لاَ يَقْعُدُ إِلاَّ فِي السَّادِسَةِ ثُمَّ يَنْهَضُ وَلاَ يُسَلِّمُ فَيُصَلِّي السَّابِعَةَ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ تَسْلِيمَةً ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ .
Traduction anglaise
Mu'adh bin Hisham said:"My father narrated to me, from Qatadah, from Zurarah bin Awfa, from Sa'd bin Hisham, that Aishah said: 'When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed witr with nine rak'ahs, he did not sit until the eighth rak'ah. Then he would praise Allah (SWT) and remember Him and supplicate, then he would get up and he wouldn't say the taslim, then he prayed the ninth, then he sat and remembered Allah (SWT) and supplicated. Then he said a taslim that we could hear. Then he prayed two rak'ahs sitting down. When he grew older and weaker, he prayed witr with seven rak'ahs and did not sit until the sixth. Then he got up and did not say the taslim, and prayed the seventh, then he said the taslim, then he prayed two rak'ahs sitting down

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب نو رکعت وتر پڑھتے تو صرف آٹھویں رکعت میں قعدہ کرتے، اللہ کی حمد کرتے، اس کا ذکر کرتے اور دعا کرتے، پھر کھڑے ہو جاتے، اور سلام نہیں پھیرتے، پھر نویں رکعت پڑھتے، پھر بیٹھتے تو اللہ عزوجل کا ذکر کرتے، دعا کرتے، پھر ایک سلام پھیرتے جو ہمیں سناتے، پھر بیٹھ کر دو رکعت پڑھتے، پھر جب آپ بوڑھے اور کمزور ہو گئے تو سات رکعت وتر پڑھنے لگے، صرف چھٹی میں قعدہ کرتے، پھر بغیر سلام پھیرے کھڑے ہو جاتے، اور ساتویں رکعت پڑھتے، پھر ایک سلام پھیرتے، پھر بیٹھے بیٹھے دو رکعت پڑھتے۔
