Rapporté par Rifa'ah : “Je suis entré chez Mukhtar dans son palais et il a dit : ‘Jibril vient juste de me quitter.’ Rien ne m’a empêché de le frapper au cou (c’est-à-dire de le tuer) sauf un hadith que j’ai entendu de Sulaiman bin Surad, selon lequel le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : “Si un homme te fait confiance pour sa vie, ne le tue pas.” C’est cela qui m’a arrêté.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عُكَّاشَةَ، عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ، قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى الْمُخْتَارِ فِي قَصْرِهِ فَقَالَ قَامَ جِبْرَائِيلُ مِنْ عِنْدِي السَّاعَةَ . فَمَا مَنَعَنِي مِنْ ضَرْبِ عُنُقِهِ إِلاَّ حَدِيثٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ صُرَدٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ " إِذَا أَمِنَكَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى دَمِهِ فَلاَ تَقْتُلْهُ " . فَذَاكَ الَّذِي مَنَعَنِي مِنْهُ .
Traduction anglaise
It was narrated that Rifa'ah said:“I entered upon Mukhtar in his palace and he said: 'Jibril has just left me.' Nothing stopped me from striking his neck (i.e, killing him) but a Hadith that I heard from Sulaiman bin Surad, according to which the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'If a man trusts you with his life, then do not kill him.' That is what stopped me.”
Traduction en ourdou
رفاعہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں مختار ثقفی کے پاس اس کے محل میں گیا، تو اس نے کہا: جبرائیل ابھی ابھی میرے پاس سے گئے ہیں ۱؎، اس وقت اس کی گردن اڑا دینے سے صرف اس حدیث نے مجھے باز رکھا جو میں نے سلیمان بن صرد رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنی تھی کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب کوئی شخص تم سے جان کی امان میں ہو تو اسے قتل نہ کرو، تو اسی بات نے مجھے اس کو قتل کرنے سے روکا ۔
