Rapporté par Mu`adh bin Jabal : Pendant que j’étais assis derrière le Prophète (ﷺ) sur la même monture, il n’y avait rien entre lui et moi sauf le dossier de la selle. Il m’a dit : « Ô Mu`adh ! » J’ai répondu : « Me voici, ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! » Il a continué un moment puis a dit : « Ô Mu`adh ! » J’ai répondu : « Me voici, ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! » Il a continué encore un peu puis a dit : « Ô Mu`adh bin Jabal ! » J’ai répondu : « Me voici, ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! » Il a dit : « Sais-tu quel est le droit d’Allah sur Ses serviteurs ? » J’ai répondu : « Allah et Son Messager savent mieux. » Il a dit : « Le droit d’Allah sur Ses serviteurs est qu’ils L’adorent et n’associent rien à Lui. » Il a continué un moment, puis a dit : « Ô Mu`adh bin Jabal ! » J’ai répondu : « Me voici, ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! » Il a dit : « Sais-tu quel est le droit des serviteurs sur Allah s’ils font cela ? » J’ai répondu : « Allah et Son Messager savent mieux. » Il a dit : « Le droit des serviteurs sur Allah est qu’Il ne les punisse pas s’ils font cela. »

حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا رَدِيفُ النَّبِيِّ، صلى الله عليه وسلم لَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ إِلاَّ آخِرَةُ الرَّحْلِ فَقَالَ " يَا مُعَاذُ ". قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ، ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ " يَا مُعَاذُ ". قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ، ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ " يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ ". قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ. قَالَ " هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ ". قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ " حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ، وَلاَ يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ". ثُمَّ سَارَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ " يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ ". قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ. قَالَ " هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوهُ ". قُلْتُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ " حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ لاَ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ ".
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Mu`adh bin Jabal:While I was riding behind the Prophet (ﷺ) as a companion rider and there was nothing between me and him except the back of the saddle, he said, "O Mu`adh!" I replied, "Labbaik O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! And Sa`daik!" He proceeded for a while and then said, "O Mu`adh!" I said, "Labbaik and Sa`daik, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!" He then proceeded for another while and said, "O Mu`adh bin Jabal!" I replied, "Labbaik, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and Sa`daik!" He said, "Do you know what is Allah's right on His slaves?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "Allah's right on his slaves is that they should worship Him and not worship anything besides Him." He then proceeded for a while, and again said, "O Mu`adh bin Jabal!" I replied. "Labbaik, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and Sa`daik." He said, "Do you know what is (Allah's) slaves' (people's) right on Allah if they did that?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "The right of (Allah's) slaves on Allah is that He should not punish them (if they did that)

ہم سے ہدبہ بن خالد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ہمام بن حارث نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے قتادہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا اور ان سے معاذ بن جبل رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی سواری پر آپ کے پیچھے بیٹھا ہوا تھا۔ سوا کجاوہ کے آخری حصہ کے میرے اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے درمیان کوئی چیز حائل نہیں تھی۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، اے معاذ! میں نے عرض کیا لبیک وسعدیک، یا رسول اللہ! پھر تھوڑی دیر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چلتے رہے پھر فرمایا، اے معاذ! میں نے عرض کیا لبیک وسعدیک یا رسول اللہ! پھر تھوڑی دیر مزید نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چلتے رہے۔ پھر فرمایا، اے معاذ! میں نے عرض کیا لبیک وسعدیک یا رسول اللہ! فرمایا، تمہیں معلوم ہے کہ اللہ کا اپنے بندوں پر کیا حق ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا اللہ اور اس کے رسول کو زیادہ علم ہے۔ فرمایا، اللہ کا بندوں پر یہ حق ہے کہ وہ اللہ ہی کی عبادت کریں اور اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہرائیں۔ پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تھوڑی دیر چلتے رہے اور فرمایا، اے معاذ بن جبل! میں نے عرض کیا لبیک وسعدیک یا رسول اللہ! فرمایا، تمہیں معلوم ہے کہ جب بندے یہ کر لیں تو ان کا اللہ پر کیا حق ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا اللہ اور اس کے رسول کو زیادہ علم ہے۔ فرمایا کہ بندوں کا اللہ پر یہ حق ہے کہ وہ انہیں عذاب نہ دے۔
