Rapporté par Ibn Az-Zubair : J’ai dit à `Uthman bin `Affan (alors qu’il rassemblait le Coran) à propos du verset : « Ceux d’entre vous qui meurent et laissent des épouses… » (2.240) « Ce verset a été abrogé par un autre verset. Pourquoi donc l’écris-tu (ou le laisses-tu dans le Coran) ? » `Uthman a dit : « Ô fils de mon frère ! Je ne déplacerai rien de sa place. »

حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، قَالَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ قُلْتُ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ {وَالَّذِينَ يُتَوَفَّوْنَ مِنْكُمْ وَيَذَرُونَ أَزْوَاجًا} قَالَ قَدْ نَسَخَتْهَا الآيَةُ الأُخْرَى فَلِمَ تَكْتُبُهَا أَوْ تَدَعُهَا قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، لاَ أُغَيِّرُ شَيْئًا مِنْهُ مِنْ مَكَانِهِ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Ibn Az-Zubair:I said to `Uthman bin `Affan (while he was collecting the Qur'an) regarding the Verse:-- "Those of you who die and leave wives ..." (2.240) "This Verse was abrogated by another Verse. So why should you write it? (Or leave it in the Qur'an)?" `Uthman said. "O son of my brother! I will not shift anything of it from its place
Traduction en ourdou
ہم سے امیہ بن بسطام نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یزید بن زریع نے، ان سے حبیب نے، ان سے ابن ابی ملیکہ نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے آیت «والذين يتوفون منكم ويذرون أزواجا» یعنی ”اور تم میں سے جو لوگ وفات پا جاتے ہیں اور بیویاں چھوڑ جاتے ہیں۔“ کے متعلق عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے عرض کیا کہ اس آیت کو دوسری آیت نے منسوخ کر دیا ہے۔ اس لیے آپ اسے ( مصحف میں ) نہ لکھیں یا ( یہ کہا کہ ) نہ رہنے دیں۔ اس پر عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ بیٹے! میں ( قرآن کا ) کوئی حرف اس کی جگہ سے نہیں ہٹا سکتا۔
