Rapporté par `Abdullah bin `Umar : Le Messager d'Allah (ﷺ) a envoyé des troupes et a nommé Usama bin Zaid comme leur chef. Les gens ont critiqué sa direction. Le Messager d'Allah (ﷺ) s'est levé et a dit : « Si vous critiquez la direction d'Usama, vous aviez déjà critiqué celle de son père avant lui. Par Allah, il (c'est-à-dire Zaid) méritait vraiment d'être chef, et il faisait partie des personnes que j'aimais le plus. Et maintenant, son fils Usama est aussi l'un de ceux que j'aime le plus après lui. »

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَعَثَ بَعْثًا وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، فَطَعَنَ النَّاسُ فِي إِمَارَتِهِ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " إِنْ تَطْعُنُوا فِي إِمَارَتِهِ فَقَدْ كُنْتُمْ تَطْعُنُونَ فِي إِمَارَةِ أَبِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ، وَايْمُ اللَّهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَخَلِيقًا لِلإِمَارَةِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَىَّ، وَإِنَّ هَذَا لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَىَّ بَعْدَهُ ".
Traduction anglaise
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent troops and appointed Usama bin Zaid as their commander. The people criticized his leadership. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got up and said, "If you (people) are criticizing his (i.e. Usama's) leadership you used to criticize the leadership of his father before. By Allah, he (i.e. Zaid) deserved the leadership indeed, and he used to be one of the most beloved persons to me, and now this (i.e. his son, Usama) is one of the most beloved persons to me after him

ہم سے اسماعیل بن ابی اویس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے امام مالک نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبداللہ بن دینار نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک لشکر روانہ فرمایا اور اس کا امیر اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ عنہما کو بنایا۔ بعض لوگوں نے ان کی امارت پر اعتراض کیا۔ اس پر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کو خطاب کیا اور فرمایا کہ اگر آج تم اس کی امارت پر اعتراض کرتے ہو تو تم اس سے پہلے اس کے والد کی امارت پر اسی طرح اعتراض کر چکے ہو اور اللہ کی قسم! اس کے والد ( زید رضی اللہ عنہ ) امارت کے بہت لائق تھے اور مجھے سب سے زیادہ عزیز تھے اور یہ ( یعنی اسامہ رضی اللہ عنہ ) بھی ان کے بعد مجھے سب سے زیادہ عزیز ہے۔
