Rapporté par Aisha : Une nuit, au milieu de la nuit, le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) est sorti et a prié dans la mosquée, et quelques hommes ont prié avec lui. Le lendemain matin, les gens en ont parlé, alors plus de personnes se sont rassemblées et ont prié avec lui la deuxième nuit. La nouvelle s’est répandue le matin, et la troisième nuit, il y avait encore plus de monde. Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) est sorti et ils ont prié derrière lui. La quatrième nuit, la mosquée était tellement pleine qu’elle ne pouvait plus contenir tout le monde. Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) n’est sorti que pour la prière du Fajr, et quand il a terminé, il s’est tourné vers les gens et a récité le “Tashah-hud” (J’atteste qu’il n’y a de dieu qu’Allah et que Muhammad est Son Messager), puis il a dit : « Amma ba'du. Votre présence (dans la mosquée la nuit) ne m’a pas échappé, mais j’ai eu peur que cette prière (la prière de Tahajjud) ne devienne obligatoire et que vous ne puissiez pas l’accomplir. »

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ، أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَرَجَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ، فَصَلَّى فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَصَلَّى رِجَالٌ بِصَلاَتِهِ فَأَصْبَحَ النَّاسُ فَتَحَدَّثُوا، فَاجْتَمَعَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْهُمْ فَصَلَّوْا مَعَهُ، فَأَصْبَحَ النَّاسُ فَتَحَدَّثُوا فَكَثُرَ أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ مِنَ اللَّيْلَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَصَلَّوْا بِصَلاَتِهِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتِ اللَّيْلَةُ الرَّابِعَةُ عَجَزَ الْمَسْجِدُ عَنْ أَهْلِهِ حَتَّى خَرَجَ لِصَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الْفَجْرَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ، فَتَشَهَّدَ ثُمَّ قَالَ " أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَخْفَ عَلَىَّ مَكَانُكُمْ، لَكِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ تُفْرَضَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَعْجِزُوا عَنْهَا ". تَابَعَهُ يُونُسُ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Aisha:Once in the middle of the night Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out and prayed in the mosque and some men prayed with him. The next morning the people spoke about it and so more people gathered and prayed with him (in the second night). They circulated the news in the morning, and so, on the third night the number of people increased greatly. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came out and they prayed behind him. On the fourth night the mosque was overwhelmed by the people till it could not accommodate them. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came out only for the Fajr prayer and when he finished the prayer, he faced the people and recited "Tashah-hud" (I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His Apostle), and then said, "Amma ba'du. Verily your presence (in the mosque at night) was not hidden from me, but I was afraid that this prayer (Prayer of Tahajjud) might be made compulsory and you might not be able to carry it out

ہم سے یحییٰ بن بکیر نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے لیث نے عقیل سے بیان کیا، ان سے ابن شہاب نے، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے عروہ نے خبر دی کہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے انہیں خبر دی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رات کے وقت اٹھ کر مسجد میں نماز پڑھی اور چند صحابہ بھی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اقتداء میں نماز پڑھنے کھڑے ہو گئے۔ صبح کو ان صحابہ ( رضوان اللہ علیہم اجمعین ) نے دوسرے لوگوں سے اس کا ذکر کیا چنانچہ ( دوسرے دن ) اس سے بھی زیادہ جمع ہو گئے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی۔ دوسری صبح کو اس کا چرچا اور زیادہ ہوا پھر کیا تھا تیسری رات بڑی تعداد میں لوگ جمع ہو گئے اور جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اٹھے تو صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے نماز شروع کر دی۔ چوتھی رات جو آئی تو مسجد میں نمازیوں کی کثرت سے تل رکھنے کی بھی جگہ نہیں تھی۔ لیکن آج رات نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ نماز نہ پڑھائی اور فجر کی نماز کے بعد لوگوں سے فرمایا، پہلے آپ نے کلمہ شہادت پڑھا پھر فرمایا۔ «امابعد» ! مجھے تمہاری اس حاضری سے کوئی ڈر نہیں لیکن میں اس بات سے ڈرا کہ کہیں یہ نماز تم پر فرض نہ کر دی جائے، پھر تم سے یہ ادا نہ ہو سکے۔ اس روایت کی متابعت یونس نے کی ہے۔
