The test
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗاۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡغَفُورُÉl es Quien creó la muerte y la vida para probarlos y distinguir quién obra mejor. Él es el Poderoso, el Perdonador.
وَلَنَبۡلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيۡءٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡخَوۡفِ وَٱلۡجُوعِ وَنَقۡصٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰلِ وَٱلۡأَنفُسِ وَٱلثَّمَرَٰتِۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتۡهُم مُّصِيبَةٞ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيۡهِ رَٰجِعُونَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَلَوَٰتٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَرَحۡمَةٞۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡمُهۡتَدُونَLos pondremos a prueba con algo de temor, hambre, pérdida de bienes materiales, vidas y frutos, pero albricia a los pacientes. Aquellos que cuando les alcanza una desgracia dicen: “De Dios somos, y a Él retornaremos [para que nos juzgue por nuestras acciones]”. A ellos su Señor bendecirá con el perdón y la misericordia, y son los [correctamente] guiados.
Justice and mercy
Much evil results from human choices, and natural calamities are a test and a mercy through the patience, solidarity and repentance they bring, and the believer is rewarded for what befalls him. Belief in the Hereafter is essential to understanding the question: Allah’s perfect justice is realised there.
