Ayyub, peace be upon him, was a wealthy man: money, children, strong health, and fruitful land. He thanked Allah for every blessing and called people to goodness.
Then came long years of trial: his wealth vanished, his children passed away, his body became ill, and people kept away. But not for a single day did his heart lose its love for Allah.
He grew neither angry nor resentful of his lot, but said the most beautiful words of a patient sick man: distress has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful! He stayed like that for years, patient and at peace.
Allah answered him: strike the ground with your foot — this is a cool wash and a drink! His body healed, his family and wealth returned with increase, and Allah made him the example of patience: We found him patient — an excellent servant.
We found him patient — an excellent servant. He was ever turning back to Allah.
