Chemistry
Jabir ibn Hayyan
Father of Chemistry — 721–815 CE
Established chemistry as an experimental science built on the laboratory and recorded procedure, mastering distillation, crystallisation, filtration and sublimation. He described the first mercury compound and concentrated acetic acid, and gave an early recipe for alkali. The many books attributed to him (like Sirr al-Asrar) were the source that shaped European chemistry for centuries, and the word Alchemy comes from his school.
