Hajj and Umrah are acts of worship in which the pilgrim crosses the miqat boundary and enters a special state with its own supplications. We gathered here the duas of every stage as they were narrated — in original Arabic with translated meaning, plus practical notes matching what pilgrims have practiced since the Companions' era. Never let your tongue dry from the remembrance of God in any state of the rites.

Ihram, intention & Talbiyah

Before entering ihram at the miqat, the pilgrim performs wudu, ghusl, a two-rak'ah prayer, then the intention — the Talbiyah being the first announcement of moving from one's world to answering God's call.

Meaning: The Talbiyah of Umrah and Hajj: an announcement of answering God alone, and that all praise, blessing and sovereignty belong to Him alone.
Meaning: The ihram dua: asking God for honor through the state one enters for His sake, and protection from the Fire through entering His sanctuary.

Tawaf & Station of Ibrahim

The pilgrim circles the Kaaba seven times starting at the Black Stone facing the Yemeni corner — tawaf is dhikr and dua, not prayer.

Meaning: The free adhkar of tawaf: glorification, praise, oneness, greatness, and holding to God alone.
Meaning: Recommended between the Yemeni corner and the Black Stone in every circuit.

Safa, Marwa & Sa'i

He exits the mosque to Safa, recites 'Indeed as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of God', then supplicates and magnifies three times, walking the seven laps between the two hills.

Meaning: The dua at Safa and Marwa as the Prophet ﷺ used to say: complete oneness and remembrance of God's might in His victory and promise.

Days of Tashreeq & moving to Mina

After Fajr on the Day of Tarwiyah the pilgrim heads to Mina to spend the night there — the days of tashreeq are days of abundant remembrance and takbir after the prayers.

Meaning: The unrestricted takbir recited after every prescribed prayer during the days of tashreeq.

Standing at Arafah

The Day of Arafah is the greatest pillar of Hajj: the pilgrims gather in the plain of Arafah after noon, carrying the banner of dua and humility — the best dua of the day is that of oneness.

Meaning: The Prophet ﷺ said: the best dua is the dua of the Day of Arafah, and the best I and the prophets before me said is this.
Meaning: Seeking the best of this world and the next as the prophets asked.

Muzdalifah & al-Mash'ar al-Haram

He leaves Arafah after sunset to Muzdalifah, prays both prayers joined and shortened, spends the night and collects his pebbles — a great night known as the night of barefoot standing.

Meaning: The Abrahamic salutation: among the duas of blessed nights after saluting the Prophet.

Stoning & sacrifice

On the Day of Sacrifice the pilgrim throws the great jamrah with seven pebbles saying takbir at each, then offers his sacrifice and shaves — for the whole Muslim world it is the day of Eid al-Adha.

Meaning: What is said at stoning and sacrifice: seeking victory for God's sake and His pleasure, and asking for an accepted Hajj and forgiven sins.

Tawaf al-Ifadah & farewell

After the night at Mina the pilgrim comes to Makkah for tawaf al-ifadah and sa'i, then parts from the sanctuary with the farewell tawaf — remaining connected to the House until the last moment.

Meaning: The farewell of the sanctuary: declaring refuge in God from the Fire in a sacred place.
