Ibn Khaldun
Founder of sociology — 1332–1406 CE / Tunis & Cairo
Author of the Muqaddimah, in which he theorised civilisation, group solidarity (asabiyya) and the cycle of states' rise and fall, with economic rules relating taxes to prosperity resembling the famous Laffer curve. He set a method for critiquing historical reports — verifying persons and places — making him, in specialists' view, the founder of sociology, demography and economics.
