Professor of sounds — 932–1002 CE / Mosul
Author of Al-Khasa'is, studying Arabic sounds in their articulation, qualities and transformations, preceding European phonetics by centuries, and treating sound rhythm and etymology with an applied method. He is counted among the greatest scholars of the Arabic language ever.
