كتاب المناقب
Rapporté par Jabir رضي الله عنه : Un homme est venu voir le Messager d’Allah ﷺ et lui a demandé de la nourriture. Il lui donna une demi-mesure d’orge, et cet homme, sa femme et leurs invités en mangèrent jusqu’à ce qu’il décide de la peser pour connaître la quantité exacte, et il n’en resta plus. Il en informa le Messager d’Allah ﷺ, qui lui dit : « Si tu ne l’avais pas pesée, tu aurais continué à en manger et elle serait restée intacte pour toi. »

وَحَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَسْتَطْعِمُهُ فَأَطْعَمَهُ شَطْرَ وَسْقِ شَعِيرٍ فَمَا زَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ وَامْرَأَتُهُ وَضَيْفُهُمَا حَتَّى كَالَهُ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " لَوْ لَمْ تَكِلْهُ لأَكَلْتُمْ مِنْهُ وَلَقَامَ لَكُمْ " .
Traduction anglaise
Jabir reported that a person came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and asked for food. And he gave him half a wasq of barley, and the person and his wife and their guests kept on making use of it (as a food) until he weighed it (in order to find out the actual quantity, and it was no more). He came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) (and informed him about it). He said:Had you not weighed it, you would be eating out of it and it would have remained intact for you
Traduction en ourdou
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ایک شخص نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں کھانا حاصل کرنے کے لئے آیا ، آپ نے اسے آدھا وسق ( تقریباً 120کلو ) جو دیے تو وہ آدمی ، اس کی بیوی اور ان دونوں کے مہمان مسلسل اس میں سے کھاتے رہے ، یہاں تک کہ ( ایک دن ) اس نے ان کو ماپ لیا ، پھر وہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پا س آیا ( اور ماجرابتایا ) تو آپ نے فرمایا؛ " اگرتم اس کو نہ ماپتے تو مسلسل اس میں سے کھاتے رہتے اور یہ ( سلسلہ ) تمھارے لئے قائم رہتا ۔
