Hadith 7361 — Livre 96: Holding Fast to the Qur'an and Sunnah
كتاب الاعتصام بالكتاب والسنة
Rapporté par Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman : Il a entendu Mu'awiya parler à un groupe de gens de Quraish à Médine, et en mentionnant Ka'b Al-Ashbar, il a dit : « C’était l’un des plus véridiques parmi ceux qui parlaient des gens du Livre, mais nous remarquions parfois des erreurs dans ses informations. »

وَقَالَ أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ رَهْطًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، وَذَكَرَ كَعْبَ الأَحْبَارِ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَصْدَقِ هَؤُلاَءِ الْمُحَدِّثِينَ الَّذِينَ يُحَدِّثُونَ عَنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ، وَإِنْ كُنَّا مَعَ ذَلِكَ لَنَبْلُو عَلَيْهِ الْكَذِبَ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman that he heard Mu'awiya talking to a group of people from Quraish at Al-Madina, and on mentioning Ka'b Al-Ashbar, he said, "He was one of the most truthful of those who used to talk about the people of the Scripture, yet we used to detect certain faults in his information
Traduction en ourdou
ابوالیمان امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ کے شیخ نے بیان کیا کہ ہم کو شعیب نے خبر دی، انہیں زہری نے، انہیں حمید بن عبدالرحمٰن نے خبر دی، انہوں نے معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا وہ مدینے میں قریش کی ایک جماعت سے حدیث بیان کر رہے تھے۔ معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کعب احبار کا ذکر کیا اور فرمایا جتنے لوگ اہل کتاب سے احادیث نقل کرتے ہیں ان سب میں کعب احبار بہت سچے تھے اور باوجود اس کے کبھی کبھی ان کی بات جھوٹ نکلتی تھی، یہ مطلب نہیں ہے کہ کعب احبار جھوٹ بولتے تھے۔
