Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born in Makkah. His father died before his birth, and he became an orphan. His mother died when he was six, so his grandfather Abdul-Muttalib raised him, then his uncle Abu Talib. He shepherded sheep as a boy and grew up with a clean heart and a strong sense of truth.
He lived among his people and never once lied or betrayed, until they named him al-Amin, the Trustworthy. He married Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, and loved to retreat to the cave of Hira, worshipping Allah and reflecting on the creation.
On that great night in the cave, Jibril brought the revelation: Read in the name of your Lord who created! And so Islam began, and the message: worship Allah alone, show mercy to the poor, act justly, and lift the injustice of the old days.
Quraysh harmed him and his Companions, so he migrated to Madinah, which became the first home of Islam. Then Allah opened Makkah, and he forgave his people, saying: go, you are free. He completed the message and left his nation the Quran and his Sunnah — and Allah raised his renown, announced in every call to prayer.
لَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ رَسُولٞ مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيۡهِ مَا عَنِتُّمۡ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ رَءُوفٞ رَّحِيمٞ
There has come to you a Messenger from among yourselves; grievous to him is your suffering; concerned over you, to the believers kind and merciful.
