Hadith 6857 — Livre 48: The Book Pertaining to the Remembrance of Allah, Supplication, Repentance and Seeking Forgiveness

Rapporté par Abu Sa’id al-Khudri رضي الله عنه : Mu’awiya est allé vers un cercle dans la mosquée et a dit : « Qu’est-ce qui vous fait rester ici ? » Ils ont répondu : « Nous sommes assis ici pour nous souvenir d’Allah. » Il a dit : « Je vous demande par Allah, est-ce vraiment pour cela que vous êtes assis ici ? » Ils ont répondu : « Par Allah, oui, c’est bien pour cela. » Il a dit : « Je ne vous ai pas demandé de jurer parce que je doute de vous, mais parce que, parmi ceux qui ont rapporté des hadiths du Messager d’Allah ﷺ, je suis celui qui en a rapporté le moins. En fait, le Messager d’Allah ﷺ est sorti vers un cercle de ses compagnons et a dit : “Qu’est-ce qui vous fait rester ici ?” Ils ont répondu : “Nous sommes assis ici pour nous souvenir d’Allah et Le louer parce qu’Il nous a guidés vers l’islam et nous a comblés de Ses bienfaits.” Il leur a alors demandé par Allah si c’était bien leur seule intention. Ils ont répondu : “Par Allah, oui, nous ne sommes assis ici que pour cela.” Il a dit : “Je ne vous demande pas de jurer parce que je doute de vous, mais parce que Gabriel est venu m’informer qu’Allah, le Très-Haut, parle aux anges de votre mérite.” »

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْحُومُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَبِي نَعَامَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ خَرَجَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَلَى حَلْقَةٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ قَالُوا جَلَسْنَا نَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ . قَالَ آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ إِلاَّ ذَاكَ قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَنَا إِلاَّ ذَاكَ . قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَحْلِفْكُمْ تُهْمَةً لَكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ أَحَدٌ بِمَنْزِلَتِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَقَلَّ عَنْهُ حَدِيثًا مِنِّي وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَرَجَ عَلَى حَلْقَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ " مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ " . قَالُوا جَلَسْنَا نَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ وَنَحْمَدُهُ عَلَى مَا هَدَانَا لِلإِسْلاَمِ وَمَنَّ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا . قَالَ " آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ إِلاَّ ذَاكَ " . قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَنَا إِلاَّ ذَاكَ . قَالَ " أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَحْلِفْكُمْ تُهْمَةً لَكُمْ وَلَكِنَّهُ أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُبَاهِي بِكُمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةَ " .
Traduction anglaise
Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Mu'awiya went to a circle in the mosque and said:What makes you sit here? They said: We are sitting here in order to remember Allah. He said: I adjure you by Allah (to tell me whether you are sitting here for this very purpose)? They said: By Allah, we are sitting here for this very purpose. Thereupon, he said: I have not demanded you to take an oath, because of any allegation against you and none of my rank in the eye of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) is the narrator of so few ahadith as I am. The fact is that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the circle of his Companions and said: What makes you sit? They said: We are sitting here in order to remember Allah and to praise Him for He guided us to the path of Islam and He conferred favours upon us. Thereupon he adjured by Allah and asked if that only was the purpose of their sitting there. They said: By Allah, we are not sitting here but for this very purpose, whereupon he (the Messenger) said: I am not asking you to take an oath because of any allegation against you but for the fact that Gabriel came to me and he informed me that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, was talking to the angels about your magnificence

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے ، کہا : حضرت معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نکل کر مسجد میں ایک حلقے ( والوں ) کے پاس سے گزرے ، انہوں نے کہا : تمہیں کس چیز نے یہاں بٹھا رکھا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا : ہم اللہ کا ذکر کرنے کے لیے بیٹھے ہیں ۔ انہوں نے کہا : کیا اللہ کو گواہ بنا کر کہتے ہو کہ تمہیں اس کے علاوہ اور کسی غرض نے نہیں بٹھایا؟ انہوں نے کہا : اللہ کی قسم! ہم اس کے علاوہ اور کسی وجہ سے نہیں بیٹھے ، انہوں نے کہا؛ دیکھو ، میں نے تم پر کسی تہمت کی وجہ سے قسم نہیں دی ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے میری حیثیت کا کوئی شخص ایسا نہیں جو حدیث بیان کرنے میں مجھ سے کم ہو ، ( اس کے باوجود اپنے یقینی علم کی بنا پر میں تمہارے سامنے یہ حدیث بیان کر رہا ہوں کہ ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نکل کر اپنے ساتھیوں کے ایک حلقے کے قریب تشریف لائے اور فرمایا : " تم کس غرض سے بیٹھے ہو؟ " انہوں نے کہا : ہم بیٹھے اللہ کا ذکر کر رہے ہیں اور اس بات پر اس کی حمد کر رہے ہیں کہ اس نے اسلام کی طرف ہماری رہنمائی کی ، اس کے ذریعے سے ہم پر احسان کیا ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " کیا تم اللہ کو گواہ بنا کر کہتے ہو کہ تم صرف اسی غرض سے بیٹھے ہو؟ " انہوں نے کہا : اللہ کی قسم! ہم اس کے سوا اور کسی غرض سے نہیں بیٹھے ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " میں نے تم پر کسی تہمت کی وجہ سے تمہیں قسم نہیں دی ، بلکہ میرے پاس جبریل آئے اور مجھے بتایا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے ذریعے سے فرشتوں کے سامنے فخر کا اظہار فرما رہا ہے ۔
