Rapporté par Abdullah رضي الله عنه : Par Celui en dehors de qui il n’y a pas de divinité, il n’y a aucune sourate dans le Livre d’Allah dont j’ignore le lieu de révélation, ni aucun verset dont j’ignore le contexte de révélation. Et si je savais qu’il existe quelqu’un qui comprend mieux le Livre d’Allah que moi (et que je pouvais l’atteindre) même à dos de mule, j’irais certainement le voir, même à dos de chameau

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا قُطْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ وَالَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ مَا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ سُورَةٌ إِلاَّ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ نَزَلَتْ وَمَا مِنْ آيَةٍ إِلاَّ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ فِيمَا أُنْزِلَتْ وَلَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنِّي تَبْلُغُهُ الإِبِلُ لَرَكِبْتُ إِلَيْهِ .
Traduction anglaise
Abdullah reported:By Him besides Whom there is no god, there is no chapter in the Book of Allah about which I do not know as to where it was revealed and there is no verse about which I do not know in what context it was revealed, and if I were to know of one having a better understanding of the Book of Allah than I (and I could reach him) on the back of the mule, I would have definitely gone to him on camel's back

مسروق نے حضرت عبداللہ ( بن مسعود ) رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی ، انھوں نے کہا : اس ذات کی قسم جس کے سواکوئی معبود نہیں!کتاب اللہ کی کوئی صورت نہیں مگر میں اسکے متعلق جانتاہوں کہ وہ کب نازل ہوئی ، اور کتاب اللہ کی کوئی آیت نہیں مگر مجھے علم ہے کہ کس کے بارے میں نازل ہوئی ، اور اگر مجھے یہ معلوم ہوکہ کوئی شخص مجھ سے زیادہ کتاب اللہ کو جاننے والاہے ۔ اور اونٹ اس تک پہنچ سکتے ہیں تو میں ( اونٹوں پر سفر کرکے ) اس کے پاس جاؤں ( اور قرآن کا علم حاصل کروں ۔)
