Hadith 4717 — Livre 33: The Book on Government
كتاب الإمارة
Rapporté par Abu Moussa : Deux de mes cousins et moi sommes entrés chez le Prophète ﷺ. L’un d’eux a dit : « Messager d’Allah, nomme-nous responsables de certaines terres qu’Allah t’a confiées. » L’autre a dit quelque chose de similaire. Il a répondu : « Nous ne confions pas cette responsabilité à celui qui la demande ni à celui qui la convoite. »

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدِ، بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَا وَرَجُلاَنِ مِنْ بَنِي عَمِّي فَقَالَ أَحَدُ الرَّجُلَيْنِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَمِّرْنَا عَلَى بَعْضِ مَا وَلاَّكَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ . وَقَالَ الآخَرُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ " إِنَّا وَاللَّهِ لاَ نُوَلِّي عَلَى هَذَا الْعَمَلِ أَحَدًا سَأَلَهُ وَلاَ أَحَدًا حَرَصَ عَلَيْهِ " .
Traduction anglaise
It has been narrated by Abu Musa who said:Two of my cousins and I entered the apartment of the Prophet (ﷺ). One of them said: Messenger of Allah, appoint us rulers of some lands that the Almighty and Glorious God has entrusted to thy care. The other also said something similar. He said: We do not appoint to this position one who asks for it nor anyone who is covetous for the same
Traduction en ourdou
برید بن عبداللہ سے روایت ہے ، انہوں نے ابوبردہ سے ، انہوں نے حضرت ابو موسیٰ ( اشعری ) رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا : میں اور میرے چچا کے بیٹوں میں سے دو آدمی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے ، ان دونوں میں سے ایک نے کہا : اللہ کے رسول! اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کی تولیت میں جو دیا اس کے کسی حصے پر ہمیں امیر بنا دیجیے ۔ دوسرے نے بھی یہی کہا ۔ آپ نے فرمایا : " اللہ کی قسم! ہم کسی ایسے شخص کو اس کام کی ذمہ داری نہیں دیتے جو اس کو طلب کرے ، نہ ایسے شخص کو بناتے ہیں جو اس کا خواہش مند ہو
