Rapporté par Anas ibn Malik : Un homme qui avait bu du vin fut amené au Messager d’Allah ﷺ. Il lui donna quarante coups avec deux fouets. Abu Bakr fit de même, mais quand Omar devint calife, il consulta les gens et Abd al-Rahman dit : « La peine la plus légère pour la boisson est de quatre-vingts coups. » Omar prescrivit alors cette peine

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أُتِيَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَجَلَدَهُ بِجَرِيدَتَيْنِ نَحْوَ أَرْبَعِينَ . قَالَ وَفَعَلَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ عُمَرُ اسْتَشَارَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخَفَّ الْحُدُودِ ثَمَانِينَ . فَأَمَرَ بِهِ عُمَرُ .
Traduction anglaise
Anas b. Malik reported that a person who had drink wine was brought to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ). He gave him forty stripes with two lashes. Abu Bakr also did that, but when Umar (assumed the responsibilities) of the Caliphate, he consulted people and Abd al-Rahman said:The mildest punishment (for drinking) is eighty (stripes) and 'Umar their prescribed this punishment

محمد بن جعفر نے ہمیں حدیث سنائی ، کہا : ہمیں شعبہ نے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے کہا : میں نے قتادہ سے سنا ، وہ حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے حدیث بیان کر رہے تھے کہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس ایک آدمی کو لایا گیا جس نے شراب پی تھی ، تو آپ نے اسے کھجور کی دو ٹہنیوں سے تقریبا چالیس ضربیں لگائیں ۔ کہا : حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے بھی ایسا ہی کیا ، جب حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کا زمانہ آیا ، انہوں نے لوگوں سے مشورہ لیا تو حضرت عبدالرحمٰن رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا : حدود میں سب سے ہلکی حد اسی کوڑے ہے ، چنانچہ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسی کا حکم صادر کر دیا
