كتاب الإيمان
Rapporté par Usama b. Zaid : Le Messager d’Allah ﷺ nous a envoyés vers les Huraqat, une tribu de Juhaina. Nous les avons attaqués tôt le matin et les avons vaincus. Avec un homme des Ansar, nous avons attrapé un homme de la tribu. Quand nous l’avons maîtrisé, il a dit : « Il n’y a de dieu qu’Allah. » L’Ansari l’a épargné, mais je l’ai frappé avec ma lance et je l’ai tué. La nouvelle était déjà parvenue au Prophète ﷺ. À notre retour, il m’a dit : « Usama, tu l’as tué après qu’il ait dit : “Il n’y a de dieu qu’Allah” ? » J’ai dit : « Messager d’Allah, il l’a dit seulement pour se protéger. » Le Prophète a répété : « Tu l’as tué après qu’il ait dit : “Il n’y a de dieu qu’Allah” ? » Il a tellement répété cela que j’ai souhaité ne jamais avoir embrassé l’islam avant ce jour-là

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ظِبْيَانَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى الْحُرَقَةِ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ فَصَبَّحْنَا الْقَوْمَ فَهَزَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَحِقْتُ أَنَا وَرَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ رَجُلاً مِنْهُمْ فَلَمَّا غَشَيْنَاهُ قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ . فَكَفَّ عَنْهُ الأَنْصَارِيُّ وَطَعَنْتُهُ بِرُمْحِي حَتَّى قَتَلْتُهُ . قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا بَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ لِي " يَا أُسَامَةُ أَقَتَلْتَهُ بَعْدَ مَا قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ " . قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا كَانَ مُتَعَوِّذًا . قَالَ فَقَالَ " أَقَتَلْتَهُ بَعْدَ مَا قَالَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ " . قَالَ فَمَازَالَ يُكَرِّرُهَا عَلَىَّ حَتَّى تَمَنَّيْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَسْلَمْتُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ .
Traduction anglaise
(It is narrated on the authority of Usama b. Zaid:The Messenger of Allah may peace be upon him) sent us to Huraqat, a tribe of Juhaina. We attacked that tribe early in the morning and defeated them and I and a man from the Ansar caught hold of a person (of the defeated tribe). When we overcame him, he said: There is no god but Allah. At that moment the Ansari spared him, but I attacked him with my spear and killed him. The news had already reached the Apostle (peace be upon him), so when we came back he (the Apostle) said to me: Usama, did you kill him after he had made the profession: There is no god but Allah? I said. Messenger of Allah, he did it only as a shelter. The Prophet observed: Did you kill him after he had made the profession that there is no god but Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) went on repeating this to me till I wished I had not embraced Islam before that day

حصین نے کہا : ہمیں ابو ظبیان نے حدیث سنائی ، انہوں نےکہا : میں نے اسامہ بن زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو حدیث بیان کرتے ہوئے سنا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ہمیں جہینہ کی شاخ ( یا آبادی ) حرقہ کی طرف بھیجا ، ہم نے ان لوگوں پر صبح کے وقت حملہ کیا اور انہیں شکست دے دی ، جنگ دوران میں ایک انصاری اور میں ان میں سے ایک آدمی تک پہنچ گئے جب ہم نے اسے گھیر لیا ( اور وہ حملے کی زد میں آ گیا ) تو اس نے لا إله إلا الله کہہ دیا ۔ انہوں نے کہا : انصاری اس پر حملہ کرنے سے رک گیا اور میں نے اپنا نیزہ مار کر اسے قتل کر دیا ۔ اسامہ رضی اللہ عنہ کابیان ہے کہ جب ہم واپس آئے تویہ بات رسول اللہ ﷺ تک پہنچ گئی ، اس پر آپ نے مجھ سے فرمایا : ’’ اے اسامہ ! کیا تو نے اس کے لا إله إلاالله کہنے کے بعد اسے قتل کر دیا؟ ‘ ‘ کہا : میں نے عرض کی : اے اللہ کے رسول ! وہ تو ( اس کلمے کے ذریعے سے ) محض پناہ حاصل کرنا چاہتا تھا ۔ کہا : تو آپ نے فرمایا : ’’ کیا تو نے اسے لا إله إلا الله کہنے کے بعد قتل کر دیا ؟ ‘ ‘ حضرت اسامہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا : آپ بار بار یہ بات دہراتے رہے یہاں تک کہ میں نے آرزو کی ( کاش ) میں آج کے دن سے پہلے مسلمان نہ ہوا ہوتا ۔
