Rapporté par `Ikrima : Ibn `Abbas a dit : « Comment pouvez-vous demander aux gens des Écritures au sujet de leurs Livres alors que vous avez le Livre d’Allah (le Coran), qui est le plus récent des Livres révélés par Allah, et que vous le lisez dans sa forme pure et non altérée ? »

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ كَيْفَ تَسْأَلُونَ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ عَنْ كُتُبِهِمْ وَعِنْدَكُمْ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ أَقْرَبُ الْكُتُبِ عَهْدًا بِاللَّهِ، تَقْرَءُونَهُ مَحْضًا لَمْ يُشَبْ
Traduction anglaise
Narrated `Ikrima:Ibn `Abbas said, "How can you ask the people of the Scriptures about their Books while you have Allah's Book (the Qur'an) which is the most recent of the Books revealed by Allah, and you read it in its pure undistorted form?

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ مدینی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حاتم بن وردان نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ایوب نے بیان کیا، ان سے عکرمہ نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ تم اہل کتاب سے ان کی کتابوں کے مسائل کے بارے میں کیونکر سوال کرتے ہو، تمہارے پاس خود اللہ کی کتاب موجود ہے جو زمانہ کے اعتبار سے بھی تم سے سب سے زیادہ قریب ہے، تم اسے پڑھتے ہو، وہ خالص ہے اس میں کوئی ملاوٹ نہیں۔
