كتاب الاعتصام بالكتاب والسنة
Rapporté par Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri : Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Vous suivrez les habitudes des nations qui vous ont précédés, empan par empan et coudée par coudée (c’est-à-dire, petit à petit), au point que même s’ils entraient dans un trou de lézard, vous les suivriez. » Nous avons dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! (Parles-tu) des Juifs et des Chrétiens ? » Il a répondu : « Qui d’autre ? »

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ـ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ ـ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لَتَتْبَعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ شِبْرًا شِبْرًا وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ تَبِعْتُمُوهُمْ ". قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَالَ " فَمَنْ ".
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will follow the ways of those nations who were before you, span by span and cubit by cubit (i.e., inch by inch) so much so that even if they entered a hole of a mastigure, you would follow them." We said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! (Do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?" He said, "Whom else?
Traduction en ourdou
ہم سے محمد بن عبدالعزیز نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یمن کے ابوعمر صنعانی بیان کیا، ان سے زید بن اسلم نے، ان سے عطاء بن یسار نے اور ان سے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”تم اپنے سے پہلی امتوں کی ایک ایک بالشت اور ایک ایک گز میں اتباع کرو گے، یہاں تک کہ اگر وہ کسی گوہ کے سوراخ میں داخل ہوئے ہوں گے تو تم اس میں بھی ان کی اتباع کرو گے۔“ ہم نے پوچھا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا یہود و نصاریٰ مراد ہیں؟ فرمایا پھر اور کون۔
