Rapporté par Sa`d : J’ai été le premier parmi les Arabes à tirer une flèche pour la cause d’Allah. Nous combattions pour Allah alors que nous n’avions rien à manger sauf les feuilles des arbres Hubla et Sumur (des arbres du désert), si bien que nos excréments ressemblaient à ceux des moutons (c’est-à-dire des crottes sèches). Aujourd’hui, les gens de la tribu de Bani Asad veulent m’enseigner les lois de l’Islam. Si c’est ainsi, alors je suis perdu, et tous mes efforts de cette époque difficile n’auront servi à rien

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعْدًا، يَقُولُ إِنِّي لأَوَّلُ الْعَرَبِ رَمَى بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَرَأَيْتُنَا نَغْزُو، وَمَا لَنَا طَعَامٌ إِلاَّ وَرَقُ الْحُبْلَةِ وَهَذَا السَّمُرُ، وَإِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَضَعُ كَمَا تَضَعُ الشَّاةُ، مَا لَهُ خِلْطٌ، ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَتْ بَنُو أَسَدٍ تُعَزِّرُنِي عَلَى الإِسْلاَمِ، خِبْتُ إِذًا وَضَلَّ سَعْيِي.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Sa`d:I was the first man among the Arabs to throw an arrow for Allah's Cause. We used to fight in Allah's Cause while we had nothing to eat except the leaves of the Hubla and the Sumur trees (desert trees) so that we discharged excrement like that of sheep (i.e. unmixed droppings). Today the (people of the) tribe of Bani Asad teach me the laws of Islam. If so, then I am lost, and all my efforts of that hard time had gone in vain

ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یحییٰ قطان نے بیان کیا، ان سے اسماعیل بن ابی خالد نے، ان سے قیس نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ میں نے سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ میں سب سے پہلا عرب ہوں جس نے اللہ کے راستے میں تیر چلائے۔ ہم نے اس حال میں وقت گزارا ہے کہ جہاد کر رہے ہیں اور ہمارے پاس کھانے کی کوئی چیز حبلہ کے پتوں اور اس ببول کے سوا کھانے کے لیے نہیں تھی اور بکری کی مینگنیوں کی طرح ہم پاخانہ کیا کرتے تھے۔ اب یہ بنو اسد کے لوگ مجھ کو اسلام سکھلا کر درست کرنا چاہتے ہیں پھر تو میں بالکل بدنصیب ٹھہرا اور میرا سارا کیا کرایا اکارت گیا۔
