Rapporté par Sa`id bin Al-Harith : J'ai demandé à Jabir bin `Abdullah au sujet de la prière en portant un seul vêtement. Il a répondu : « J'ai voyagé avec le Prophète ﷺ lors de certains de ses déplacements, et je suis allé le voir une nuit pour une raison précise et je l'ai trouvé en train de prier. À ce moment-là, je portais un seul vêtement qui couvrait mes épaules et j'ai prié à ses côtés. Quand il a terminé la prière, il m'a demandé : “Ô Jabir ! Qu'est-ce qui t'amène ici ?” Je lui ai expliqué ce que je voulais. Quand j'ai fini, il m'a demandé : “Ô Jabir ! Quel est ce vêtement que j'ai vu et avec lequel tu as couvert tes épaules ?” J'ai répondu : “C'est un vêtement (serré).” Il a dit : “Si le vêtement est assez large, enveloppe-toi avec (en couvrant les épaules), et s'il est trop court, utilise-le comme un Izar (en le nouant autour de la taille seulement).”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ سَأَلْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ، فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ فَقَالَ خَرَجْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ، فَجِئْتُ لَيْلَةً لِبَعْضِ أَمْرِي، فَوَجَدْتُهُ يُصَلِّي وَعَلَىَّ ثَوْبٌ وَاحِدٌ، فَاشْتَمَلْتُ بِهِ وَصَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَانِبِهِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ " مَا السُّرَى يَا جَابِرُ ". فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِحَاجَتِي، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْتُ قَالَ " مَا هَذَا الاِشْتِمَالُ الَّذِي رَأَيْتُ ". قُلْتُ كَانَ ثَوْبٌ. يَعْنِي ضَاقَ. قَالَ " فَإِنْ كَانَ وَاسِعًا فَالْتَحِفْ بِهِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ ضَيِّقًا فَاتَّزِرْ بِهِ ".

Narrated Sa`id bin Al-Harith:I asked Jabir bin `Abdullah about praying in a single garment. He said, "I traveled with the Prophet (ﷺ) during some of his journeys, and I came to him at night for some purpose and I found him praying. At that time, I was wearing a single garment with which I covered my shoulders and prayed by his side. When he finished the prayer, he asked, 'O Jabir! What has brought you here?' I told him what I wanted. When I finished, he asked, 'O Jabir! What is this garment which I have seen and with which you covered your shoulders?' I replied, 'It is a (tight) garment.' He said, 'If the garment is large enough, wrap it round the body (covering the shoulders) and if it is tight (too short) then use it as an Izar (tie it around your waist only)

ہم سے یحییٰ بن صالح نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے فلیح بن سلیمان نے، وہ سعید بن حارث سے، کہا ہم نے جابر بن عبداللہ سے ایک کپڑے میں نماز پڑھنے کے بارے میں پوچھا۔ تو آپ نے فرمایا کہ میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک سفر ( غزوہ بواط ) میں گیا۔ ایک رات میں کسی ضرورت کی وجہ سے آپ کے پاس آیا۔ میں نے دیکھا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز میں مشغول ہیں، اس وقت میرے بدن پر صرف ایک ہی کپڑا تھا۔ اس لیے میں نے اسے لپیٹ لیا اور آپ کے بازو میں ہو کر میں بھی نماز میں شریک ہو گیا۔ جب آپ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو دریافت فرمایا جابر اس رات کے وقت کیسے آئے؟ میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اپنی ضرورت کے متعلق کہا۔ میں جب فارغ ہو گیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا کہ یہ تم نے کیا لپیٹ رکھا تھا جسے میں نے دیکھا۔ میں نے عرض کی کہ ( ایک ہی ) کپڑا تھا ( اس طرح نہ لپیٹتا تو کیا کرتا ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اگر وہ کشادہ ہو تو اسے اچھی طرح لپیٹ لیا کر اور اگر تنگ ہو تو اس کو تہبند کے طور پر باندھ لیا کر۔
