كتاب الطلاق
Rapporté par Um Salama : Une femme avait perdu son mari et ses proches s’inquiétaient pour ses yeux (qui étaient malades). Ils sont allés voir le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) et lui ont demandé la permission de soigner ses yeux avec du khôl, mais il a dit : « Elle ne doit pas mettre de khôl sur ses yeux. (À l’époque préislamique de l’ignorance), une veuve parmi vous restait dans ses pires vêtements (ou dans la pire partie de sa maison), et quand un an était passé, si un chien passait près d’elle, elle jetait une boule de fumier. Non, (elle ne peut pas utiliser de khôl) avant que quatre mois et dix jours ne soient passés. »

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، تُوُفِّيَ زَوْجُهَا فَخَشُوا عَلَى عَيْنَيْهَا فَأَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَاسْتَأْذَنُوهُ فِي الْكُحْلِ فَقَالَ " لاَ تَكَحَّلْ قَدْ كَانَتْ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَمْكُثُ فِي شَرِّ أَحْلاَسِهَا أَوْ شَرِّ بَيْتِهَا، فَإِذَا كَانَ حَوْلٌ فَمَرَّ كَلْبٌ رَمَتْ بِبَعَرَةٍ، فَلاَ حَتَّى تَمْضِيَ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرٌ ".
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Um Salama: A woman was bereaved of her husband and her relatives worried about her eyes (which were diseased). They came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and asked him to allow them to treat her eyes with kohl, but he said, "She should not apply kohl to her eyes. (In the Pre-Islamic period of Ignorance) a widowed woman among you would stay in the worst of her clothes (or the worst part of her house) and when a year had elapsed, if a dog passed by her, she would throw a globe of dung, Nay, (she cannot use kohl) till four months and ten days have elapsed

ہم سے آدم بن ابی ایاس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے، کہا ہم سے حمید بن نافع نے، ان سے زینب بنت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے اپنی والدہ سے کہ ایک عورت کے شوہر کا انتقال ہو گیا، اس کے بعد اس کی آنکھ میں تکلیف ہوئی تو اس کے گھر والے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور آپ سے سرمہ لگانے کی اجازت مانگی۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ سرمہ ( زمانہ عدت میں ) نہ لگاؤ۔ ( زمانہ جاہلیت میں ) تمہیں بدترین کپڑے میں وقت گزارنا پڑتا تھا، یا ( راوی کو شک تھا کہ یہ فرمایا کہ ) بدترین گھر میں وقت ( عدت ) گزارنا پڑتا تھا۔ جب اس طرح ایک سال پورا ہو جاتا تو اس کے پاس سے کتا گزرتا اور وہ اس پر مینگنی پھینکتی ( جب عدت سے باہر آتی ) پس سرمہ نہ لگاؤ۔ یہاں تک کہ چار مہینے دس دن گزر جائیں۔
