Rapporté par Ibn ‘Abbas : ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab faisait asseoir Ibn ‘Abbas à côté de lui, alors ‘AbdurRahman bin ‘Auf dit à ‘Umar : « Nous avons aussi des fils comme lui. » ‘Umar répondit : « (Je le respecte) à cause de son statut que tu connais. » ‘Umar demanda alors à Ibn ‘Abbas la signification de ce verset : « Quand vient le secours d’Allah et la victoire… » (110.1) Ibn ‘Abbas répondit : « Cela annonçait la mort du Messager d’Allah (ﷺ), qu’Allah lui avait annoncée. » ‘Umar dit : « Je n’en comprends pas d’autre sens que le tien. »

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَرْعَرَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ يُدْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ إِنَّ لَنَا أَبْنَاءً مِثْلَهُ. فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ تَعْلَمُ. فَسَأَلَ عُمَرُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ هَذِهِ الآيَةِ {إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ} فَقَالَ أَجَلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَعْلَمَهُ إِيَّاهُ، فَقَالَ مَا أَعْلَمُ مِنْهَا إِلاَّ مَا تَعْلَمُ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: `Umar bin Al-Khattab used to let Ibn `Abbas sit beside him, so `AbdurRahman bin `Auf said to `Umar, "We have sons similar to him." `Umar replied, "(I respect him) because of his status that you know." `Umar then asked Ibn `Abbas about the meaning of this Holy Verse:-- "When comes the help of Allah and the conquest of Mecca . . ." (110.1) Ibn `Abbas replied, "That indicated the death of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) which Allah informed him of." `Umar said, "I do not understand of it except what you understand

ہم سے محمد بن عرعرہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوبشر نے، ان سے سعید بن جبیر نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ آپ کو ( مجالس میں ) اپنے قریب بٹھاتے تھے۔ اس پر عبدالرحمٰن بن عوف رضی اللہ عنہ نے اعتراض کیا کہ اس جیسے تو ہمارے بچے ہیں۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ میں نے یہ طرز عمل جس وجہ سے اختیار کیا، وہ آپ کو معلوم بھی ہے؟ پھر عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے اس آیت ( یعنی ) «إذا جاء نصر الله والفتح» کے متعلق پوچھا۔ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے جواب دیا کہ یہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وفات تھی، آپ کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ( آیت میں ) اسی کی اطلاع دی ہے۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ جو تم نے بتایا وہی میں بھی اس آیت کے متعلق جانتا ہوں۔
