Hadith 3850 — Livre 63: Merits of the Helpers in Madinah (Ansaar)

Rapporté par Sufyan : ‘Ubaidullah a dit : « J’ai entendu Ibn `Abbas dire : Voici quelques caractéristiques des gens de l’époque préislamique : (i) dénigrer les origines des autres familles, (ii) se lamenter bruyamment sur les morts. » ‘Ubaidullah a oublié la troisième caractéristique. Sufyan a ajouté : « On dit que la troisième était de croire que la pluie est causée par l’influence des étoiles (c’est-à-dire, si une étoile particulière apparaît, il va pleuvoir). »

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ خِلاَلٌ مِنْ خِلاَلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الطَّعْنُ فِي الأَنْسَابِ وَالنِّيَاحَةُ، وَنَسِيَ الثَّالِثَةَ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهَا الاِسْتِسْقَاءُ بِالأَنْوَاءِ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Sufyan:'Ubaidullah said: "I heard Ibn `Abbas saying, "Following are some traits of the people of the pre- Islamic period of ignorance (i) to defame the ancestry of other families, (ii) and to wail over the dead." 'Ubaidullah forgot the third trait. Sufyan said, "They say it (i.e. the third trait) was to believe that rain was caused by the influence of stars (i.e. if a special star appears it will rain)

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبیداللہ نے اور انہوں نے عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا، انہوں نے کہا کہ جاہلیت کی عادتوں میں سے یہ عادتیں ہیں۔ نسب کے معاملہ میں طعنہ مارنا، میت پر نوحہ کرنا، تیسری عادت کے متعلق ( عبیداللہ راوی ) بھول گئے تھے اور سفیان نے بیان کیا کہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ وہ تیسری بات ستاروں کو بارش کی علت سمجھنا ہے۔
