Rapporté par Qais : J’ai entendu Sa’d dire : « J’ai été le premier parmi les Arabes à tirer une flèche pour la cause d’Allah. Nous combattions avec les Prophètes, alors que nous n’avions rien à manger sauf les feuilles des arbres, au point que nos excréments ressemblaient à ceux des chameaux ou des moutons, sans rien pour les lier. Aujourd’hui, la tribu de Banu Asad me reproche de ne pas avoir compris l’islam. Je serais perdant si mes actes étaient vains. » Ces gens se sont plaints de Sa’d auprès de ‘Umar, disant qu’il n’accomplissait pas correctement ses prières

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعْدًا ـ رضى الله عنه ـ يَقُولُ إِنِّي لأَوَّلُ الْعَرَبِ رَمَى بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَكُنَّا نَغْزُو مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَا لَنَا طَعَامٌ إِلاَّ وَرَقُ الشَّجَرِ، حَتَّى إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَضَعُ كَمَا يَضَعُ الْبَعِيرُ أَوِ الشَّاةُ، مَا لَهُ خِلْطٌ، ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَتْ بَنُو أَسَدٍ تُعَزِّرُنِي عَلَى الإِسْلاَمِ، لَقَدْ خِبْتُ إِذًا وَضَلَّ عَمَلِي. وَكَانُوا وَشَوْا بِهِ إِلَى عُمَرَ، قَالُوا لاَ يُحْسِنُ يُصَلِّي.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Qais:I heard Sa`d saying, "I was the first amongst the 'Arabs who shot an arrow for Allah's Cause. We used to fight along with the Prophet, while we had nothing to eat except the leaves of trees so that one's excrete would look like the excrete balls of camel or a sheep, containing nothing to mix them together. Today Banu Asad tribe blame me for not having understood Islam. I would be a loser if my deeds were in vain." Those people complained about Sa`d to `Umar, claiming that he did not offer his prayers perfectly

ہم سے ہاشم نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عمرو بن عون نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے خالد بن عبداللہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے اسماعیل نے، ان سے قیس نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، وہ بیان کرتے تھے کہ عرب میں سب سے پہلے اللہ کے راستے میں، میں نے تیر اندازی کی تھی ( ابتداء اسلام میں ) ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ، کے ساتھ اس طرح غزوات میں شرکت کرتے تھے کہ ہمارے پاس درخت کے پتوں کے سوا کھانے کے لیے کچھ بھی نہ ہوتا تھا، اس سے ہمیں اونٹ اور بکریوں کی طرح اجابت ہوتی تھی۔ یعنی ملی ہوئی نہیں ہوتی تھی۔ لیکن اب بنی اسد کا یہ حال ہے کہ اسلامی احکام پر عمل میں میرے اندر عیب نکالتے ہیں ( اگر ) ایسا ہو تو میں بالکل محروم اور بے نصیب ہی رہا اور میرے سب کام برباد ہو گئے۔ ہوا یہ تھا کہ بنی اسد نے عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے سعد رضی اللہ عنہ کی چغلی کھائی تھی۔ یہ کہا تھا کہ وہ اچھی طرح نماز بھی نہیں پڑھتے۔
