Rapporté par Abu Al-Aswad : Une fois, je suis allé à Médine où il y avait une épidémie et les gens mouraient rapidement. J’étais assis avec `Umar et un cortège funéraire est passé. Les gens ont fait l’éloge du défunt. `Umar a dit : « C’est confirmé (le Paradis). » Un autre cortège est passé, les gens ont fait l’éloge du défunt. `Umar a dit : « C’est confirmé (le Paradis). » Un troisième cortège est passé, les gens ont fait l’éloge du défunt. `Umar a dit : « C’est confirmé (le Paradis). » Puis un autre cortège est passé et les gens ont parlé en mal du défunt. `Umar a dit : « C’est confirmé (l’Enfer). » J’ai demandé à `Umar : « Ô chef des croyants ! Qu’est-ce qui est confirmé ? » Il a dit : « J’ai dit ce que le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit. Il a dit : “Allah fera entrer au Paradis tout musulman dont la bonne conduite est attestée par quatre personnes.” Nous avons demandé au Prophète : ‘Et s’il n’y a que trois témoins ?’ Il a dit : ‘Même trois.’ Nous avons demandé : ‘Et s’il n’y a que deux ?’ Il a dit : ‘Même deux.’ Mais nous ne lui avons pas demandé pour un seul témoin. »

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ، قَالَ أَتَيْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَقَدْ وَقَعَ بِهَا مَرَضٌ، وَهُمْ يَمُوتُونَ مَوْتًا ذَرِيعًا، فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ فَمَرَّتْ جِنَازَةٌ فَأُثْنِيَ خَيْرٌ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ وَجَبَتْ. ثُمَّ مُرَّ بِأُخْرَى فَأُثْنِيَ خَيْرًا فَقَالَ وَجَبَتْ. ثُمَّ مُرَّ بِالثَّالِثَةِ فَأُثْنِيَ شَرًّا، فَقَالَ وَجَبَتْ. فَقُلْتُ مَا وَجَبَتْ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ قُلْتُ كَمَا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ شَهِدَ لَهُ أَرْبَعَةٌ بِخَيْرٍ أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ ". قُلْنَا وَثَلاَثَةٌ قَالَ " وَثَلاَثَةٌ ". قُلْتُ وَاثْنَانِ قَالَ " وَاثْنَانِ ". ثُمَّ لَمْ نَسْأَلْهُ عَنِ الْوَاحِدِ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Abu Al-Aswad:Once I went to Medina where there was an outbreak of disease and the people were dying rapidly. I was sitting with `Umar and a funeral procession passed by. The people praised the deceased. `Umar said, "It has been affirmed" (Paradise). Then another funeral procession passed by. The people praised the deceased. `Umar said, "It has been affirmed." (Paradise). Then another funeral procession passed by. The people praised the deceased. `Umar said, "It has been affirmed (Paradise)." Then a third funeral procession passed by and the people talked badly of the deceased. `Umar said, "It has been affirmed (Hell)." I asked `Umar, "O chief of the believers! What has been affirmed?" He said, "I have said what the Prophet (ﷺ) said. He said, 'Allah will admit into paradise any Muslim whose good character is attested by four persons.' We asked the Prophet, 'If there were three witnesses only?' He said, 'Even three.' We asked, 'If there were two only?' He said, 'Even two.' But we did not ask him about one witness
Traduction en ourdou
ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے داؤد بن ابی فرات نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبداللہ بن بریدہ نے بیان کیا ابی الاسود سے کہ میں مدینہ آیا تو یہاں وبا پھیلی ہوئی تھی، لوگ بڑی تیزی سے مر رہے تھے۔ میں عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کی خدمت میں تھا کہ ایک جنازہ گزرا۔ لوگوں نے اس میت کی تعریف کی تو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ واجب ہو گئی۔ پھر دوسرا گزار لوگوں نے اس کی بھی تعریف کی عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا واجب ہو گئی۔ پھر تیسرا گزرا تو لوگوں نے اس کی برائی کی، عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس کے لیے یہی کہا کہ واجب ہو گئی۔ میں نے پوچھا امیرالمؤمنین! کیا واجب ہو گئی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے اسی طرح کہا ہے جس طرح نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تھا کہ جس مسلمان کے لیے چار آدمی اچھائی کی گواہی دے دیں اسے اللہ تعالیٰ جنت میں داخل کرتا ہے۔ ہم نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا اور اگر تین دیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ تین پر بھی۔ ہم نے پوچھا اور اگر دو آدمی گواہی دیں؟ فرمایا دو پر بھی۔ پھر ہم نے ایک کے متعلق آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نہیں پوچھا۔
