Rapporté par Salama bin Al-Akwa : Un jour, alors que nous étions assis avec le Prophète, un défunt a été amené. On a demandé au Prophète (ﷺ) de diriger la prière funéraire pour lui. Il a dit : « Avait-il des dettes ? » Les gens ont répondu non. Il a dit : « A-t-il laissé des biens ? » Ils ont dit non. Alors il a dirigé la prière funéraire. Un autre défunt a été amené et les gens ont dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! Dirige la prière funéraire. » Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Avait-il des dettes ? » Ils ont dit oui. Il a dit : « A-t-il laissé des biens ? » Ils ont dit : « Trois dinars. » Il a alors dirigé la prière. Puis un troisième défunt a été amené et les gens ont dit au Prophète (ﷺ) : « S’il te plaît, dirige la prière funéraire. » Il a dit : « A-t-il laissé des biens ? » Ils ont dit non. Il a demandé : « Avait-il des dettes ? » Ils ont répondu : « Oui, il doit trois dinars. » Il a dit : « Alors, priez pour votre compagnon. » Abu Qatada a dit : « Ô Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) ! Dirige la prière funéraire, et je paierai sa dette. » Alors il a dirigé la prière

حَدَّثَنَا الْمَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذْ أُتِيَ بِجَنَازَةٍ، فَقَالُوا صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا. فَقَالَ " هَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ". قَالُوا لاَ. قَالَ " فَهَلْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا ". قَالُوا لاَ. فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِجَنَازَةٍ أُخْرَى، فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا. قَالَ " هَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ". قِيلَ نَعَمْ. قَالَ " فَهَلْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا ". قَالُوا ثَلاَثَةَ دَنَانِيرَ. فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا، ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِالثَّالِثَةِ، فَقَالُوا صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا. قَالَ " هَلْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا ". قَالُوا لاَ. قَالَ " فَهَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ ". قَالُوا ثَلاَثَةُ دَنَانِيرَ. قَالَ " صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ ". قَالَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَعَلَىَّ دَيْنُهُ. فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa: Once, while we were sitting in the company of Prophet, a dead man was brought. The Prophet (ﷺ) was requested to lead the funeral prayer for the deceased. He said, "Is he in debt?" The people replied in the negative. He said, "Has he left any wealth?" They said, "No." So, he led his funeral prayer. Another dead man was brought and the people said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Lead his funeral prayer." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Is he in debt?" They said, "Yes." He said, "Has he left any wealth?" They said, ''Three Dinars." So, he led the prayer. Then a third dead man was brought and the people said (to the Prophet (ﷺ) ), Please lead his funeral prayer." He said, "Has he left any wealth?" They said, "No." He asked, "Is he in debt?" They said, ("Yes! He has to pay) three Dinars.', He (refused to pray and) said, "Then pray for your (dead) companion." Abu Qatada said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Lead his funeral prayer, and I will pay his debt." So, he led the prayer

ہم سے مکی بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے یزید بن ابی عبید نے بیان کیا، ان سے سلمہ بن اکوع رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں موجود تھے کہ ایک جنازہ لایا گیا۔ لوگوں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا کہ اس کی نماز پڑھا دیجئیے۔ اس پر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا کیا اس پر کوئی قرض ہے؟ لوگوں نے بتایا کہ نہیں کوئی قرض نہیں ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا کہ میت نے کچھ مال بھی چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا کوئی مال بھی نہیں چھوڑا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کی نماز جنازہ پڑھائی۔ اس کے بعد ایک دوسرا جنازہ لایا گیا لوگوں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! آپ ان کی بھی نماز جنازہ پڑھا دیجئیے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا، کسی کا قرض بھی میت پر ہے؟ عرض کیا گیا کہ ہے۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا، کچھ مال بھی چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا کہ تین دینار چھوڑے ہیں۔ آپ نے ان کی بھی نماز جنازہ پڑھائی۔ پھر تیسرا جنازہ لایا گیا۔ لوگوں نے آپ کی خدمت میں عرض کیا کہ اس کی نماز پڑھا دیجئیے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے متعلق بھی وہی دریافت فرمایا، کیا کوئی مال ترکہ چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا کہ نہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا، اور اس پر کسی کا قرض بھی ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا کہ ہاں تین دینار ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر فرمایا کہ پھر اپنے ساتھی کی تم ہی لوگ نماز پڑھ لو۔ ابوقتادۃ رضی اللہ عنہ بولے، یا رسول اللہ! آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان کی نماز پڑھا دیجئیے، ان کا قرض میں ادا کر دوں گا۔ تب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر نماز پڑھائی۔
