Rapporté par Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri : Le Messager d’Allah (ﷺ) faisait l’I`tikaf pendant les dix jours du milieu de Ramadan, et une fois il est resté en I`tikaf jusqu’à la nuit du vingt-et-unième, qui était la nuit après laquelle il avait l’habitude de sortir de l’I`tikaf. Le Prophète (ﷺ) a dit : « Celui qui était en I`tikaf avec moi doit rester en I`tikaf pendant les dix derniers jours, car on m’a informé (de la date) de la nuit (du Qadr), mais j’ai été amené à l’oublier. (En rêve) je me suis vu en train de me prosterner dans la boue et l’eau le matin de cette nuit. Cherchez-la donc dans les dix dernières nuits et dans les nuits impaires. » Il a plu cette nuit-là et le toit de la mosquée a fui car il était fait de tiges de feuilles de palmier. J’ai vu de mes propres yeux la marque de boue et d’eau sur le front du Prophète (c’est-à-dire le matin du vingt-et-unième)

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَعْتَكِفُ فِي الْعَشْرِ الأَوْسَطِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، فَاعْتَكَفَ عَامًا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ لَيْلَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ، وَهِيَ اللَّيْلَةُ الَّتِي يَخْرُجُ مِنْ صَبِيحَتِهَا مِنِ اعْتِكَافِهِ قَالَ " مَنْ كَانَ اعْتَكَفَ مَعِي فَلْيَعْتَكِفِ الْعَشْرَ الأَوَاخِرَ، وَقَدْ أُرِيتُ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةَ ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أَسْجُدُ فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ مِنْ صَبِيحَتِهَا، فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ، وَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي كُلِّ وِتْرٍ ". فَمَطَرَتِ السَّمَاءُ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، وَكَانَ الْمَسْجِدُ عَلَى عَرِيشٍ فَوَكَفَ الْمَسْجِدُ، فَبَصُرَتْ عَيْنَاىَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ أَثَرُ الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ، مِنْ صُبْحِ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to practice I`tikaf in the middle ten days of Ramadan and once he stayed in I`tikaf till the night of the twenty-first and it was the night in the morning of which he used to come out of his I`tikaf. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever was in I`tikaf with me should stay in I`tikaf for the last ten days, for I was informed (of the date) of the Night (of Qadr) but I have been caused to forget it. (In the dream) I saw myself prostrating in mud and water in the morning of that night. So, look for it in the last ten nights and in the odd ones of them." It rained that night and the roof of the mosque dribbled as it was made of leaf stalks of date-palms. I saw with my own eyes the mark of mud and water on the forehead of the Prophet (i.e. in the morning of the twenty-first)

ہم سے اسماعیل بن ابی اویس نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھ سے امام مالک رحمہ اللہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے یزید بن عبداللہ بن ہاد نے بیان کیا، ان سے محمد بن ابراہیم بن حارث تیمی نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم رمضان کے دوسرے عشرے میں اعتکاف کیا کرتے تھے۔ ایک سال آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہی دنوں میں اعتکاف کیا اور جب اکیسویں تاریخ کی رات آئی۔ یہ وہ رات ہے جس کی صبح آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اعتکاف سے باہر آ جاتے تھے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جس نے میرے ساتھ اعتکاف کیا ہو وہ اب آخری عشرے میں بھی اعتکاف کرے۔ مجھے یہ رات ( خواب میں ) دکھائی گئی، لیکن پھر بھلا دی گئی۔ میں نے یہ بھی دیکھا کہ اسی کی صبح کو میں کیچڑ میں سجدہ کر رہا ہوں، اس لیے تم لوگ اسے آخری عشرہ کی طاق رات میں تلاش کرو، چنانچہ اسی رات بارش ہوئی، مسجد کی چھت چوں کہ کھجور کی شاخ سے بنی تھی اس لیے ٹپکنے لگی اور خود میں نے اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھا کہ اکیسویں کی صبح کو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی پیشانی مبارک پر کیچڑ لگی ہوئی تھی۔
