Hadith 1084 — Livre 18: Shortening the Prayers (At-Taqseer)
كتاب تقصير الصلاة
Rapporté par `Abdur Rahman bin Yazid : Nous avons accompli une prière de quatre rak‘at à Mina derrière Ibn `Affan. Quand `Abdullah bin Mas‘ud l’a appris, il a dit avec tristesse : « Certes, nous appartenons à Allah et c’est vers Lui que nous retournons. » Il a ajouté : « J’ai prié deux rak‘at avec le Messager d’Allah ﷺ à Mina, de même avec Abu Bakr et avec `Umar pendant leurs califats. » Il a aussi dit : « Si seulement deux des quatre rak‘at sont acceptées par Allah, ce serait déjà une chance pour moi. »

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ، يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِمِنًى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ، فَقِيلَ ذَلِكَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ فَاسْتَرْجَعَ ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَلَيْتَ حَظِّي مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَانِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَانِ.
Traduction anglaise
Narrated `Abdur Rahman bin Yazid:We offered a four rak`at prayer at Mina behind Ibn `Affan . `Abdullah bin Mas`ud was informed about it. He said sadly, "Truly to Allah we belong and truly to Him we shall return." And added, "I prayed two rak`at with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) at Mina and similarly with Abu Bakr and with `Umar (during their caliphates)." He further said, "May I be lucky enough to have two of the four rak`at accepted (by Allah)

ہم سے قتیبہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے عبدالواحد بن زیاد نے بیان کیا، ان سے اعمش نے، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ابراہیم نخعی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے عبدالرحمٰن بن یزید سے سنا، وہ کہتے تھے کہ ہمیں عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ نے منیٰ میں چار رکعت نماز پڑھائی تھی لیکن جب اس کا ذکر عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے کیا گیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ «انا لله و انا اليه راجعون» ۔ پھر کہنے لگے میں نے تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ منی ٰ میں دو رکعت نماز پڑھی ہے اور ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ بھی میں نے دو رکعت ہی پڑھی ہیں اور عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ بھی دو رکعت ہی پڑھی تھی کاش میرے حصہ میں ان چار رکعتوں کے بجائے دو مقبول رکعتیں ہوتیں۔
