Putra Mosque (the Pink Mosque)
Putrajaya, Malaysia

Modern Malaysia's icon on the shores of Lake Putrajaya: a rose-granite dome quarried from Borneo, a minaret 116 metres tall, and a mirror reflection on the water that ranks among South-East Asia's favourite photographs. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome at set times.
Story & history
The Malaysian government ordered it as the landmark of its new administrative capital, and Malaysian architects fused Persian and Malay styles, specifying a rose-coloured granite dome imported specially. Inaugurated in 1999, it became a world destination pairing modern Islamic architecture with the lake's reflection in a single scene.
